There were quite a few changes from Beta to live. Just an FYI.

From my review copy acceptance email from Evan Dexter at EA:

f you have been playing in the Press Beta and/or Closed Beta, you should know that there are key differences between the versions that are quite important and that you should take note of when you start playing on live.

The developers have been working hard to put in new additions and further polish between beta and launch, and many of these things have not been available in the beta before.

Here are some of the important things to keep in mind:

. Starter Experience: The first few hours of the game has been improved in many ways, from mission polish to cinematics and even gameplay functionality. For instance you will find that the origin story at the beginning has a whole new dimension to it that will give your character's story a whole new perspective.

. Story Mission: Related to the above in many ways, the main story mission has seen some dramatic additions that weren't in the beta earlier. This includes something called Dreaming Prisons where players get to make important choices. We don't want to spoil anything beyond that, but safe to say, it's worth checking out!

. Character Creation: In the early stages of Press Beta there weren't a lot of options in character creation. This has now been expanded greatly with more faces, facial parts, clothing and so on. This will enable players to make a character that is much more different from others, more so than earlier in the beta.

. Combat: Significant combat improvements have been made continuously throughout beta, and many will agree that there was a significant leap in combat quality a couple of weeks back in the beta.

We've made it more impactful, added more oomph, giving the overall feel of combat much more polish.

. Animations: The animation team has been working on polishing a lot of the animations in the game, especially player character animations, making them smoother and more natural than in the earlier stages of the beta.

. Player vs. Player: Some of you hopefully attended the PvP weekend that started June 22. If you haven't had the chance to check out this part of the game yet, we definitely urge you to do so. This is an important part of the game, and the persistent PvP war zone with over two hundred players in it can yield the winners important rewards that will affect all players in that secret society across the dimension.

Of course the team has implemented hundreds if not thousands of small tweaks and elements of polish to the game over the past month, and these enhancements will show up all over the game, from the early areas to the later areas.

Remember that if you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to reach out to us at Funcom or myself.

Thanks,

Evan

Playing Crusader Kings 2 with some friends on the weekends. Stopped playing Diablo 3 a few weeks ago, don't see me returning anytime soon. The solution for beating an encounter in a game should never be to skip it, yet that is what Blizzard has said to do about some of the stupid ability combos elites can have. Brilliant balancing. Holding out for Torchlight 2 and Guild Wars 2.

I'm playing The Walking Dead games on PSN and they kick ass. When all is said and done I'll play through again and make some different choices. It is an awesome experience so far though. Looking forward to TWD FPS that's gonna come out where you are Darryl pre-Rick Grimes & Co. Should be friggin awesome.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
