Job interview Friday

I applied for a risk analyst position at a state psychiatric hospital. Got a call today for an interview. (Position closed for applications 5/22. Sometimes the system moves slowly)

I currently work for a state DD facility. Risk analysis and management is one part of my job. Since I have worked there my caseload has doubled....and duties have expanded. Impossible. So looking for a job that actually ends at 5pm. Want to stay with the state.

This is a new position. In May they advertised for a director of Risk Management and 2 risk Analyst positions. They re-advertised the director's job.

I could just be getting an interview to fill their quota....a lot of the time they want to fill these things internally but have to interview a certain # of people. But this might be an opportunity and I want to be prepared.

I worked in mental health for many years and did some contract work with a couple of inpatient psychiatric units. So, I know a little about the system. I also know that these are very serious people and expect an intense interview.

If anyone has any experience with hospital systems, psychiatric units, or risk management, I would appreciate some advice.

I am curious about what a risk analyst does in a psychiatric hospital and what is DD?

DD=developmental disabilities.

What I envision from the job posting, is that incidents and injuries are reviewed with recommendations made for action to prevent further occurances. For example, where I am now, falls is a big issue. We have done some things environmentally to reduce the risk of falls and serious injury. Also reviewing the data for patterns such as location, time of day, staffing, etc.

    • Anybody got a clue what this is supposed to mean? 🤔
    • I figured as much. Hopefully he's just resting up and will be ready for round 3 (if we make it that far.)  Sucks to see. Hes been our best defender (besides Slavin) in the playoffs so far.
    • I've never bought into the idea. There's just too much at stake, even for front office people. Jobs are lost, trust is lessened, lives are altered, reputations are damaged and more. Throw in that the average front office person isn't as young as the average player. They may not have ten years ahead of them to salvage their careers. Any given year could be their last. The only person not guaranteed to suffer some direct form of consequence from losing is the owner, and even there you still have problems (fan reaction, team reputation, revenue, etc). You've also got massive egos in play on that front so it can get personal. Mind you, I do accept that there are "fire sales" in order to build for the future, but even those have consequences. They don't exactly guarantee success either. Poorly run teams often just wind up in the same circumstance a few years down the road. Sorry gus, but my tinfoil hat just hasn't fit me for quite a while.
