Gland secretion.

My dog has it. She was just sleeping on my lap. We were both covered up with a quilt when I started smelling it. I immediately threw back the quilt and told her to git! Her glands are expressed every time she gets a bath but she still has it.

Do all dogs have this problem or is it just little dogs? Or only Dachshunds?

It really stinks.

Removed? Interesting. I'll need to look into it.

Did removing them cause any issues for your dogs?

No problems beyond her having a tough time going for a few days. She would squat and start to push and take a step forward as it started to hurt. She left a trail of little turds and it was both hysterical and heartbreaking.

The other thing is when we take her to in for grooming we have to remind them that she doesn't have any. Otherwise they try and express them and can cause her quite a bit of discomfort.

another reason cats are better...just sayin'

Never have had the dog get mad and poo and piss all over a room. We had a cat for 17 years and if you pissed him off - woe to you o earth and sea for the devil sends he beast with wrath...
