NFC South's Next Defensive Superstar

Recommended Posts

Who was the last "Great" Defensive player in the NFCS? Pep? Has it been that long?

The next great player? Kuechly has a shot at being great, but that could be all homerism at this point. Talib, if he matures. I do not see many great looking guys right now. Tough question, for me anywhoo.

There is a bunch of young talent for sure. Just none with a resume' that screams "Great". Yet!!

Hell, as of right now. How many "Great" Defensive players are there in the NFCS? So the next one, very well could be the only one. Beast, OK, if healthy he is probably on the best Def. players list.

No wonder the collective D in this Division is lower shelf. All the great players are playing elsewheres.

The next "Great" player in the NFCS is going to be C. Johnson. Or not.

im talking play style not draft stock

I don't really see that. Coaches had to scheme against Berry when playing Tennesee, while Barron played on dominating defenses with Alabama. I'm not saying he is a bad player, but to have him ranked as one of the best young defensive players in the NFC South before he has even stepped on an NFL field is a bit optimistic. You want a young player for the Bucs defense with the potential to be really good, from their secondary no less, is Talib. The guy has a nose for trouble, but he has proven he can play with the best.

By the same token I wouldn't put Keek on this list either.

I concur with not giving these kids too much credit before they even hit the field.

That said. Sometimes, you can just see the potential some players bring. It is easy for folks nowadays, especially with social media, to feel that they know players as well as anyone. So players can be hyped or dyped from earlier and earlier ages. From any yahoo with a computer, to actual know-it-alls.

It is not suprising that young players get hyped. Hell, we did it when I was a kid too. Nothing new here. Keep it moving.
