There was a lot of talk among the "draft analysts" that Oakland would take him in the 1st based on his measurables and their need for an OT. After the pick, Oakland was lauded for patiently waiting until the 4th to get their guy. That draft was spoken of as an unusually good draft for Oakland, taking the good football players first (Rolando McClain) and the good athletes later (Campbell).

The Raiders have good DT's, so it's no surprise they wanted to shift Campbell to guard, to get him on the field. Hopefully this ends up being one of the best trades the FO has ever made.
