And so it begins....Newton vs Luck

Luck may win a Super Bowl before Cam do though. If Indy can get better on defense, they probably will.

I donno that seems like a hard thing to even guess at, with Manning they only manged to win 1 SB and only played in 2...Luck's team isn't as good as some of those 13-14 win Manning teams from his "glory days"

Yes true, but we still needs to see improvement on Cam's decision making. We all know Cam didn't do so well in scoring position at times last year.

Luck is going to be that Manning/Rodgers/Brady/Brees that can take his team downfield every series can score points on the board.

If Indy can better that D in 4-5 years, they will probably win one soon.

You can make all these conclusions based on ONE preseason game against one of the worst defensive teams in the league?

FYI: Ryan Leaf's first preseason game in 98 = 14 of 19, 143 yards and 2 TDs, 0 INT

Not to say that Luck is going to be the next Ryan Leaf, but rather the point is..

It was one preseason game FFS.

Can luck throw for 4000 yards? Absolutely. Is he going to throw for 4000 yards? Probably not. I'd give him a 20% chance to do that.

Now let's talk total yards. Is luck going to have a combined total yardage of 4800 like Cam did? I'd say he doesn't have a chance in hell to do that.

It isn't just the fact that Cam is fast or strong and can run as well as pass that makes him so potent- it's his overall football skills and presence on the field. If any standard issue quarterback in this league hands the ball off to a running back, the play immediately becomes 10 on 11 (1 man with the ball + 9 blockers vs 11 defenders). You know damn well that ball is NOT going back to the quarterback. With Newton on the field, you never know, and you HAVE to account for him. The ball can be passed back to him, he may never have actually handed the ball off, he could come in to lay a hard block- hell he could go out to attempt a catch over the middle. Newton forces defenses to account for him in ways that go beyond what normally counters a "running" quarterback.

Cam is the best red zone threat in the NFL. Better than gronk, better than calvin. He's a total mismatch for every defensive position.

I'm telling you, anyone who even needs to think twice about Luck not being a Manning/Rodgers/Brady type of player is just an idiot. He's no Leaf. I seen Luck played at Stanford the last two years. Hes not bust to me.

As a redone threat, duhhh.

As a QB who can lead his offense every series and put points on the scoreboard, he's not there yet. He made some terrible mistakes last year.
