We have had poo personnel for years now.

yep. after karl hankton we had no real legit ST aces...at least not that we kept around for long. it was always players who they kept because they had potential in some other phase or guys that fox didn't like but wasn't allowed to cut (read that as rookies).

it was merely a holding tank for players and not considered an important part of the game.

I'm with Dpantherman... the players obviously hold responsibility for not making the plays, and the coach has responsibility for making sure they understand the system, basic fundamentals, etc., but damn... 3 years in a row STs just stink. Something fishy is going on...

It does no good to have a decent kicker and punter, when we have no decent cover teams. Plus our last decent return guy was Mark Jones, and he wasn't spectacular, he just didn't fall down the first time he was touched, nor did he jerk and juke until he was tackled... he caught the ball and ran hard straight ahead...

It looked to me that our guys are trying to contain more than they are trying to make the tackle. It looks like thats been the problem for awhile.

the only saving grace he has is that last year was a pretty much unideal situation for a STs coach. a lack of ST talent (thru no fault of his own..just he inherited ST players from a coaching staff that thought they could throw any old scrub in there and do ok) and then whatever players he found he could count on ended up getting promoted to starting positions elsewhere taking away people he could use consistently. also, no offseason for him had to hurt.

this year...different story. i'm going to be a bit lenient considering he's kind of rebuilding, but most things should be worked out by the bye week. if it isn't, my patience will be at an end.

Continuity has been nonexistant. Experimenting with combinations and schemes, with players that may,or may not, even be around long term. Punter not helping the coverage team, by outkicking the coverage. All have all had a hand in our woes.

Every player that is not a significant starter has played ST. Until this squad has some stability, it very well will continue to struggle.

Just my thought. Well... the part that wasn't from rayzor anywho.
