Opening Line = (PK)

I've been watching the line this week ... it stayed at New Orleans (-2.5) pretty much all week but moved to New Orleans (-3.0) today .. obviously most people are betting the Saints*

I have a weird feeling this game will be talked about all week

Carolina is going to bring it today .. in all phases of the game

Murphy should have a HUGE game against the Saints*' banged up secondary

the spread is designed to induce betting, not to necessarily give an accurate prediction of the outcome.

true .. to a certain extent .. the line serves more of a purpose than to simply induce betting

the opening line is the "experts'" prediction of the outcome .. then it moves based on how the public bets so that the house doesn't lose

I'm exaggerating here .. but if the sole purpose was to induce betting .. they would move the line to Panthers (-15)

.. but I see your point!

my prediction .. 37-24 Carolina

I will not bet against my team no matter what...I'm a huge Razorback fan and seriously considered putting $300 on Alabama -20...Can't do it!!!

We're gonna win this game outright!!! What's that bet? +130?

you mean the money line?

It's at +122 to win outright

I put real money down on Panthers -2.5 against the Bucs and got burned. Learned my lesson, staying away from betting on teams that are near and dear to my heart.

+130 on sportsbook

nice .. yeah my info is from Vegas

actually I just double checked it .. you're right

it opened at +122 .. but it's at +130 now!

.. at Mirage, Caesars, Harrah's, etc.

    • I read that Pittsburgh is a possibility.  I think of college QB studs who had some form of mental quirk yet tons of talent--but their issue made being a team leader difficult and it led to their demise--going back:  Jamarcus Russell, Art Schlichter, Jeff George, etc. I think people forget that the QB must not only have talent, but they must lead.
    • I wish I knew more details, but the NIL money to 20-year olds combined with easy access to gambling sites is a side effect that these kids may not have considered.  To your point,A famous 2009 Sports Illustrated article titled “How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke” estimated that 78% of retired NFL players go bankrupt or face significant financial stress within two years of leaving the league.  I am guessing that ego and $$$ and the thrill of competition (most pro athletes love competition because they are the winners) makes it a powerful temptation.  Throw in the ease of gambling on your phone which is always in your hand, and I see your point x 10.
    • Freeling got some reps at RT when they gave Moton a rest day--I sorta hope Freeling gets brought along slowly as you describe.  It would be better for him for reasons you provide.  We have a really good problem.
