Panthers' Triple Option

The Special One

Recommended Posts

I don't know why the option gets a knack for being "simple", "nonviable", "college-only", and "unsophisticated" when it doesn't seem more gimmicky or less technical than any other offense. I also don't understand why the quarterbacks that run this style of offense are considered unskilled and incapable of running a pro-style offense.

From reading that article, it's obvious the QB has to make smart decisions, needs quick reactions, needs to make defenses respect his passing and running ability, and is given a ton of responsibility for the successful development of the play. I'm glad this team isn't afraid to break the mold, and I'm glad we're making defenses respect and be terrified of this "inferior" offense run by a "college" quarterback.

I wonder if we'll be able to execute our option against the Giants. The Saints zone defense is just terrible because their players have not even learned it yet, but the Giants defense is tough. I think if we can run our option against the Giants, then we can run it on just about any team.

    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.
    • Dan's been talking about upgrading CB since beginning of free agency
    • I'm more of a Hornets fan than I am a Panthers fan, I've watched a ton of this franchise the last 20 years. I post all day on RealGM. Don't get your hopes up, this is setting us up for a 20 point loss to the Heat and a swift end to the season. Spoelstra has always solved us, the Heat have two bigs that we have no answers for, and Jaquez is a certified Hornets killer that always plays us like he has a grudge on us. The Hornets being a top 10 team all year and a top 5 team the last half of the year and then flat out missing the playoffs is incredibly on brand for this crappy, horrendous franchise. I would love to be proven wrong. But I've suffered enough to know this little scheme the team is pulling. We finished 2 games out of 6th and guaranteed playoffs, and we blew two games to the Pacers and Nets earlier in the season, when they weren't trying to win. It's just who we are, Hornets DNA
