Giants game revisited. A few surprises emerge...

towel on head = baseball cap.

Towel on the head must also equal hoodie to some folks. Which I guess means Cam is a "thug" in their eyes. Maybe that is where all the screams of him being so immature for wearing a towel to relax is coming from. Amazing how some folks can sit and read so much inegativity into a young man's actions.SMDH.

They wonder why the Panthers are where they're at in the league.

Good post Mar...

I'd like to add on to your point about Rivera and his comment about being unhappy with the soft zone.

I mentioned in one of the post-game threads that in Ron's interview after the game on our post-game show, he even said something then to the effect of "We were too soft. Especially in coverage." He elaborated on it, but it really struck me as a weird thing to say because I thought the same thing you did - doesn't he have authority to change it?

That's why I have expressed even more concern about him since the game. It isn't any longer just about our team coming out looking unprepared multiple games now... It's clear something is amiss during games as well. The statement he made in the post-game interview suggested either he doesn't have any say or that the amount of cushion our DBs and LBs were giving was completely up to their own discretion, or both. Either way, something is off.

If you remember last season he had the same problem with McD and had to take over. I'm guessing if he has to take over again its goodbye to McD. When Rivera calls someone out like this its never a good thing and change is usually on the way.

You're absolutely right!

Another thing I would like to point out is, Cam was right, the Giants did nothing special at all, scheme wise, to stop the Read Option, they just have the horses up front that could individually blow it up.

It truly did come down to execution, although I think Cam was overwhelmed with Osi's speed and JPP's power and range at times, hence his hesitation when reading them.

Those ends sold out on the run. There was room to pass but Chud hates short passes and Bell was sorely missed.

bullshit- Smitty basically told Cam to grow the fook up and act like a man - nothing said about cams demeanor has been overblown

Smitty has no track record to talk. Guy made Clausen's life a living hell in 2010, acted like a big pussy on the bench, Smith is JUST now learning how to be a leader. Gross? Kalil? Yeah, they actually have the history of professionalism.

And Gross just called Smith out on it....yet everyone overlooks that.

Bell wasn't sorely missed in reality. RT play wasn't an issue. JPP just got his hands up....outside that Gary had a solid game

The reason he was able to get into the passing lane was because Williams did not turn him at all. He made Williams his bitch the whole game. Saying Williams has a solid game would be like saying we had a solid rushing attack that game.

I think the announcers over stated that.....it was JPP who is a freak of nature with a 57 ft wingspan. And 2 batted balls was all JPP could accomplish against Gary.

That pussy has done more for this Franchise than anybody else in the history of the Team.

In my 10th year in the Nfl with no ring, and a rebuilding team, and then Hurney and Co. trot in Jimmy to be the leader of said team, Id be a little pissed also.

I didnt know the announcers stated that but its true non the less. They confused Williams all night, I could post many pics of williams blowing coverage but its just not worth it. He did a terrible job of blitz pickup and at one point blocked the the farthist man out. Thats pop warnner right there.

Just bc you are a badass at playing WR doesn't mean you are a badass at everything.

Did Gross not call Smitty out for what he did in Thur?

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
