lol....Rivera isn't keeping it going. This is why Steve messed up.....Rivera, Cam, Steve, random players will be asked all week about it....and potentially later as well.

Steve still has a lot to learn.....but we seem to be reminded of that every other season

I think Steve Smith did it right but ofcourse the coach would want it kept in house..... But yea the media and outsiders like us would have thought... Are these dudes scared to tell Cam to man the fk up... You are a supreme talent... You have to be professional with that.

I hate when athletes come out with stuff publicly but sometimes its needed.

Never needed.....only causes problems.

I assure you, plenty of guys on that team aren't afraid to say something to a 23 yr old in house....the reason you don't know that is bc it is in house stuff.

This is the one time I cant jive with #89. First time in probably 12 years. But going to the media did a lot more harm than good (unless a WIN comes out of it of course :)), Im sure these guys have probably moved on. But if anybody should know about how the media can run with things, it should be Steve Smith. #89 dont ever do no poo like that again. Keep that poo IN HOUSE.

Even though I want him to step up on the field, off the field I respect and agree with Jordan Gross' statement on this matter.

I love Smitty, but he really should have left his words to Cam between them. Cam looks up to Steve but probably feels a bit betrayed, especially since Smith knows how much the media rips into any little thing with Cam. I wouldn't be surprised if this leaves a rift between them. Smitty had good intentions but like a lot of things he does he took it one step too far.

Ok coach listen up, here is how you deal with the media when a negative subject comes up.

What do you think about Smith yelling at Cam for pouting at the end of the game?

It is what it is, we're moving on.

Did you talk with them about it?

That's private.

How do you feel about it?

We have Atlanta coming up, and that's going to be a tough game.

Here is the WRONG way.

What do you think about Smith yelling at Cam for pouting at the end of the game?

We would have rather had kept that in house blah blah blah.

Wrong. They will now stir this up yet again, and go talk to both Cam and Smith about what you just said.

#Panthers coach Ron Rivera, upon further review, wishes Steve Smith would have kept his criticism of Cam Newtonin-house. Smith got on Newton last week for sulking at the end of the Giants' loss. Said Rivera: "Honestly, I just wish it was a discussion that would have been kept between the two of them. I don't think it needs to be out there. But that's what happened, so I'll leave it at that."

So sissy Smith ran to the media because he was pissed that Cam wasn't on the side line cheering up the other sulking teammates during a game where the team was getting their asses handed to them byt the Gaints. He got caught screaming at Cam and instead of taking the mature road and saying No comment, he threw Cam to the wolves. Why didn't Steve scream at the other two Captains on the team who were sulking more than Cam? What's their job as team Captains? Steve knew the media was setting Cam by keeping him on the camera while he was on the sideline and he played rigth into their hands.

Maybe the Panthers need to take a page out of other teams like the Giants, Patriots, and Green Bay playbook of keeping things inhouse. Like you really feel those players get along with each other perfectly? Nope
