so far all i have read on these forums is how much the owner, coaches and players suck. Is the name panthers the only reason 80% of this sites users are fans? There are plenty of sucessful teams out there that can eat sh%t as far as i'm concerned. I want to win as much as anybody else but damn its getting old. Cowher could turn this team around. Billicheat likes the 3-4. yaddayaddayadda. Cowher probably couldn't pass an eye exam at his age. And billicheat will retire once brady's not cute anymore. Detroit used to change thier coach every year too, and thats a decade i'm sure they all try to forget.

Yes. Not being happy with the results we are seeing does not make us bad fans.

Ok fine - I'll dignify this with a response other than a smartass response since that seems to be necessary.

You're attacking fans in general for wanting to win now. You're not going to win any arguments like that. We all want to see the team we support win - herp fuging derp. Most of us also understand that we're not GOING to win right this moment. Thus we like to whine about the reasons we believe we're NOT winning. Herp fuging derp again.

Let me preface this by the following: I don't want Cowher as our coach ... or basically any retread old coach. See my posts about a young up and coming coach that has their head in the current climate of the NFL in ... well ... any other thread.

We have undeniable GM problems - noone can argue that point with any sort of veracity. The belief of most of the fanbase and a few of the talking heads is that we have coaching problems. I don't have much of an interest in musical coaches a la Detroit but there comes a time when you have to call a spade a spade. It takes time for a new coach to get their systems in place and to see the final result there. But here's what we have with this coaching staff:

  • We've dropped the offensive scheme we ran to great success last year in favor of a gimmicky college offensive scheme that does not work at this level for any length of time. This is a coaching problem.
  • This team from top to bottom has zero fire. These same players have in the past. They didn't all forget how to give a poo - this is a problem with the staff that is failing to motivate the team. This is a coaching problem.
  • This team has been unprepared for more than one thing that opponents did to them. The head coach admitted this. This is a coaching problem.
  • This team has a serious lack of fundamentals. See: tackling. Everyone on our defense didn't forget how to tackle at once. This is a coaching problem.
  • We have regressed or stayed the same in nearly every category from last year despite GAINING talent on the field. This is a coaching problem.

These are things that you want to see a coaching staff handling immediately - they're not related to installing their philosophy / scheme...they're basic things that every coach needs to do well. Ours aren't. So yeah - we believe our coaching staff sucks. I've got plenty of reasons I think they do. Can you provide me with some why you think they don't? Or is your position that we should, as fans, blindly kiss the ass of our staff regardless of whether they're being effective or not?

Most of the people on this site are fans (except that one d-bag who declared he's a Falcons fan now! FML). But we're fans who expect more from our franchise than they are delivering. That's a problem?

Excellent post 350... I agree that the majority of the problems we are having can be traced to coaching...

I can see both sides of the "fan" thing too...

There is nothing wrong with being critical of "your" team when they are not performing.

There is nothing wrong with calling out players or coaches that are not performing.

Where I personally draw the line is the over-the-top, constantly negative harping on things, and making statements like "I hope we lose so that..." or "when we continue to lose, you'll see I'm right..." and the like

You can be a fan and be critical without having that attitude... yes we've played poorly this year, and I have been critical of everyone from Rivera to Cam to Smitty... but on game day, I put my DWill or Smitty jersey on and watch every single play and want them to do well no matter what.

you're right we do need immediate results from our coaches and players. But rewriting the same thread a thousand times over will not achieve anything. Whatever is wrong with this team should be adressed but i do not believe its something that can happen overnight. If there are no visible changes after the bye week I might lead the charge against them. However, I hate to jump iut ahead of myself. With all the talent and promise we showed last year I am not ready to throw in the towel on this staff. Maybe mcd. But that depends on the bye week performance. Maybe I'm frustrated with all the panther haters coming in collecting ammo from distraught fans?

I still don't want to see chud or rivera on the opposing sidelines. & maybe thats my main frustration. After last year i believe they will deliver. And can't think of any honest to god replacements i'd be happy with.

I never wanted to say it out loud but i feared this the entire off-season, simply because everything was new and no one had a scheme or video on us to follow. But I knew we wouldn't be able to run the same exact offense. Ecspecially when shock left. So I have chalked this whole season up to the learning curve, while hoping for the best. But the deck is stacked against us on all fronts. So all that we can do is make mistakes and learn from them. And in time become one of the most dominant teams in the league. Unfortunately, it will take time. But not if we just throw the baby out with the bathwater.

    • Yeah not taking that Burns trade was infinitely stupid. We seem to be finally righting the ship but, imo, our biggest issue since Tepper bought the team has been coaches and management having a poor understanding of where our own roster is at. Starting with that idiot Rhule drinking his own kool-aid and thinking he was going to come and take the NFL by storm with Teddy freaking Bridgewater. Could have just kept Cam on the last year of his contract and gone from there but noooo that fat slob had to feel like he was the big man on campus. First round wizard Marty Hurney who, for whatever his faults, has a freaking HOF track record with first round picks, wants to trade up for Hebert but fat fug Rhule says no. Then we kept Rhule for 3 years which is absolutely unbelievable to me and every single year he treated our roster like it was just one player away trading our draft picks for Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield who have proven since leaving that Matt Rhule was an even bigger idiot of a coach than we thought. We finally seem to understand we are a ways off and trade CMC, but then we don’t take the actual good trade for Brian Burns who was never better than a run of the mill situational pass rusher. Then we botch the self scout of our OL (and team) after Wilks, even though they were bad before Wilks simplified the scheme, thinking they can execute whatever the hell Reich and Brown were trying to do. So we win a couple meaningless games playing dummy ball and Fitterer thinks we’re a player away again. And nobody even considers that having the slowest receiving corps imaginable with Damiere freaking Byrd, who can’t even make it to the season before being injured and cut, as your only hope for speed, coupled with the worst pass blocking OL I’ve ever seen, might lead to titanic levels of disaster. The way Canales and Morgan have been adamant about constantly bringing competition at every position has been refreshing and made a huge difference. I was kind of worried that we had fallen into our old ways leading up to the draft with all the talk of defense only and worried that they might feel the offense was set. Very glad to see they were not complacent on that. My big thing now is I’m still wondering why Evero is still here. I can’t think of a single player who has gotten better under him, and the Broncos defense got better once he left. We’ll see.
    • really good interview that gives some insight into their decision making process in making up the schedules and the issues they run into with so many people broadcasting games now. also some interesting discussion on what they have going on and where they might be heading in the international games. vikings have 2 of them, btw. we might be seeing more of that.
    • wow i absolutely LOVED watching that.   will watch again...and again...and again.
