Rookie "Joe Adams" Punt/Kick Returner

This without a doubt another Hurney mistake. I am sure it exist, but I can not recall or know of a team who drafts a guy specifically to come in be the return guy right away who ends up being inactive on game days. I mean getting a guy to return punts has been an issue for seasons now and that was a main reason Adams was drafted. He was to do that and have an impact day 1. And her we are again back to where we started. Just once or twice in a game it would have been helpful to get a decent return on a punt or kickoff.

Joe Adams is the symbol of Rivera's fear.

In 2001 or so, Steve Smith, then a rookie, cost us a game vs. Green Bay when he fumbled two returns in the same game--back to back, I think. Smitty was back on the field the following week.

We don't try a field goal because Medlock might miss and it would hurt his confidence. We don't kick the ball deep because Hester might run one back. We play soft on D with 2:20 to go in the game when we are leading by 2 points because we did not want to give up a touchdown. We are scared.

Does Rivera think that yanking him out of the lineup is doing anything but playing with his head? When Adams is in the game, I think we have a chance to score. By the way, Munnerlyn let the ball hit the ground because we did not want to fumble. He will play next week. At least Adams went for it.

We are afraid of losing
