Well I guess that just further solidifies the known fact that the writers know absolutely jack poo about NFL football in general. It amazes me how these people get paid to be wrong all the fuging time.....where can I apply for that job?

Who cares if some people were picking against the panthers last year? It still doesnt change the fact that we had only the 23rd hardest schedule in the league going into last year. Most people were just higher on the saints and bucs which is why they were picking against us. The fact is we had a cup cake schedule last year and that is why we won 12 games. Too bad people are still in denial about it.

Let's not forget the outcry of Fox being a moron for suspending Steve Smith for the first two games of the season against the Chargers and Bears. All the pundits around here were sure that we were going to start 0-2 and it would end up costing him his job. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Gman rode to shore in that boat...

Nope, I had us going 1-1 and that had nothing to do with the Smith suspension. I thought the chargers were going to be good and that the bears would be mediocre. It turns out both of them were mediocre which is why we went 2-0.

Where's the optimism at? Our team had a year to grow together. And just because some of these teams look great on paper doesn't mean that they're gonna be all that. I'll guess we'll see when the regular season starts. That's when it starts to matter

So you're telling me that at the beginning of last season that you predicted 12-4 based on our easy schedule?

there is actually a ton of optimism around. it's just a few squeaky wheels here and there who can't seem to find anything positive to say and who love trying to find things to disagree with in some hopes that they can come back if people are disappointed about something and say "hey i was right. you guys are all crying but i told your it was going to happen."

most likely what is going to happen is that they are going to grasp at straws and they will try and find some little sliver where it could be considered that they were right about something if you looked at it from just the right angle and they will come in and gloat and everyone will say, "who are you?" and just point and laugh. then they'll just try again while everyone either gets annoyed with their persistent trolling or feeds them because they like to see the little troll dance.

he'll look around for friends or just anyone to agree with him but all he'll find is the occasional troll fan from some other team who will either get sent to the smack forum or hit with the bant stick. he'll pass his time just waiting/begging for someone to come near so he can get noticed. it's sad, really. i still laugh. is that wrong?

If we had the same cup cake schedule that we had last year then i would agree. But that is definitely not the case this year. We can return all the starters that we want but our cup cake schedule last year is the main reason we went 12-4. The only chance of us winning 12 games is if every team we face this year suffer major injuries to key players on their teams. Thats kind of wishful thinking though.

The NFL changes a lot from year to year. We could very well have a cupcake schedule, or we could be a cupcake. You don't know until you lace them up.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
