Bucs roll into town dead last in NFL pass defense

Full disclosure here, I'm a Bucs fan and I won't argue hat it's possible for you to win this. Division rivalry and your defense has improved but I really like this matchup for us.

We, just like most teams have improved since week one. But we have improved greatly on offense. We are punishing every team with offense. Use Martin to force safeties up and using Mike Williams and VJax to take advantage of it. Plus the fact that for some reason, the worst cover safety I have ever had the displeasure of seeing on an NFL field in Haruki Nakamura, is somehow still starting. That fact alone gives us a huge edge.

Freeman has thrown 13 TD's to one interception in the last 5 games. We have the highest scoring offense since week 6. We have two wideouts in the top 30 in yards for the season. The fourth leading rusher and an offensive line that hasn't missed a beat after losing our two pro bowl guards.

Defensively, our secondary is a bad joke, or good one depending on how you view things. Mark Barron has tons of talent and a monster in the run game but he is susceptible to making an error and getting beat deep. The only corner that doesn't look clueless on the field is Johnson who has started three games and has three picks (1 for a TD). But nothing tells me that the panthers are capable of punishing us for that.

Newton isn't playing as poorly as some make him out to be but even against a pass defense as bad as ours in Washington, Newton didn't generate that much offense passing wise. And other than Olsen and Smitty, no one is afraid of any other receiver. And Rush defense wise, we have shutdown most teams while the panthers aren't running well this year.

I think Tampa is the definite favorite here because your defense will slow our offense down but we will still get our points. I just don't think your offense is made to beat ours in the area we are weak at.

Real good post. Thanks for sharing. Cool nickname, too.

Oh you guys will beat us, we are in the same position now as you guys were last year. A team just going through the motions, in shambles and quit on our HC. We are coming off a demoralizing loss and are standing at 2-7, yu guys are going to be playing lights out for a wild card. Im stunned Vegas has the Bucs as just 2 point favorites, im taking that bet all day.

Yeah I was a bit taken back by those odds but the fact is, it's a divisional game. You beat the Saints who aren't playing bad at all right now. You almost beat the Falcons who I figure are a bit over rated but a really good team still. Every divisional NFC south game played so far has been really close and came down to the final drive except your game vs the saints so it's not insane to expect a close one.

But the good news is, a new coach and new GM can do wonders for a team. Even though Lafell shows flashes, I'm not a big fan of his and I don't think he's a legit #2. Hopefully for you guys Smitty has a little gas in the tank left and the new FO might give him a little help on the field receiver wise. Olsen can't Block for crap but he's excellent in the passing game. Not sure what the issue is with your run game. I have to assume it's the o line since I can't believe two dominant backs just decided to fall off the map in the same year suddenly.

Cam needs time and he also needs a coach that knows how to not only utilize him properly, but also teach him how to play the position NFL wise. I don't think the current staff has a clue in that area and no QB is completely NFL ready when entering the league. Luckily for us we grabbed Sullivan as our OC and he was Eli's QB coach in NY. He's really helped Freeman and he looks like a whole new QB.

Defensively I would say your front seven has talent but play inconsistently for some reason. Sometimes the pass rush looks beastly and some games it's not there. Same with the run d. Pass d wise, Josh Norman looks legit and Munnerlyn is solid enough but for Christ sakes, sit Nakamura. Better yet cut him and get him as far away from BoA as possible. He looks like a clown out there 40 yards off the line of scrimmage stumbling around trying his best to impersonate a real NFL safety. No excuse for him being on the field I don't care what else he does. He can't cover at all and needs to go.

They are giving up a mind blowing 321 ypg through the air...

6 of the 9 teams they have faced this year have passed for more than 300 yards including:

414 yards by Carson Palmer

458 yards by Drew Brees

510 yards by Eli Manning

They are #1 in the league in rush yards allowed at 80ypg, but of course, if your pass defense is this bad, why would anyone really try to run ???

Despite the number of pass attempts against them, the Bucs are 26th in the NFL in sacks...

Gotta put up 21 plus points on these clowns. Just Gotta...

I say 21 offensive points and no turnovers or special teams breakdowns pretty much guarantees a Panthers win.

So basically its a resistable force against a movable object. :)

Jokes on them, we don't have a run game.

Pilares lead the Panthers in rushing the first game......with 5 yards :(

The most depressing part of it is that of all of our guys with carries...Pilares, Newton, Tolbert, Williams...everyone of them got their rushing total with their longest carry of the game. Williams ended up with -1 yard rushing with a long rush of 7 on 6 carries.

Christ, we suck
