Bigger Problem: Offense or Defense?

he obviously thinks that people see the obvious, which is the offense is struggling, and because of his major insecurity issues, he believes everyone is trashing Cam Newton. And we just can't have that. This is wrong, he has also proved numerous times his reading comprehension skills suggest he may still be in elementary school.

And as usual you fall back on Cam. While I havent mentioned him at all in this thread. Just our defense. Your agenda is clear. We all see you guys wimp out when it comes to expecting our defense to win games. They're just along for the ride. Stageprops if you will. They cant go out there and get us wins.

You and Peppers90 are the only 2 people in the world who are puffing your chest out about the Panthers defense right now. Seriously. You idolize a medicore unit that is known for choking games away.

I'm snuffing your retarded notion that the offense is doing better than the defense, that is all.

We all know you are the only one idolizing anything(Cam).

At least the defense is mediocre, that is higher than what the offense has been. Next...

once again, you fail to prove to anyone on here you have a reading comprehension level beyond the 4th or 5th grade, maybe.

i can understand if say, we were all talking verbally, but the words are written, they aren't going anywhere, you cant use the excuse, "i didnt hear ya sir" or " i misunderstood what you said sir."

nope, the words we all have typed are sitting there for you to read and respond to, but you still insist on making things up.

For the last time, I am not blaming Cam, i just know your level of butthurtness for some reason is the only logical explanation you could be defending the offense, is because your poster boy isnt producing.

and the offense went from great to craptacular.

how can anyone defend the offense this year? it's been pathetic.

and it's not like most think it's cam's fault...most people with a brain know that it's chud's fault for killing the offense that was so good, so i don't know why you're so uptight and downright defensive about the offense. blaming the offense for not getting on the board enough to win games isn't a criticism of your precious cam newton (who i have total faith in being able to take this team to the top, btw)...it's a criticism of the offense as a whole.

quit being so sensitive.

If anybody's sensitive its you homers propping up a wack ass defense that doesnt close games. If we're gonna give guys the glory when we win, we should give them criticism when they lose. Thats how it works in the NFL. This isnt the first defense to get called out by their fanbase. Grow a pair guys. I know we want to fall back on the "lets put it all on Cam" card, but Keek, Godfrey, CJ, Hardy, those guys get paid too. They dont play for free. They have jobs too. And when they fail to do that job, there will be criticism. This isnt pop warner.

Your "precious" defense is a shell of the defenses John Fox ususally fielded as our coach here. Pardon us long time fans if we're not impressed by Luke getting lost in coverage in a crucial point of the game. Or our defensive captain picking up STUPID ASS PENALTIES to keep drives alive for the other team. You guys sound like you want Rivera to stick around the way you're caping for this defense thats known not to stop anyone when it matters most.

It's really funny once you know homie and see what he is doing.

Just sit back and laugh.

he never had any credibility to begin with on this board, but now he is morphing into a total joke.

he is not a panthers fan, he is the type of person that is a fan of players.

it's a shame he mentions a john fox defense and how ours now is a shell of what it used to be, but the truth is, our offense is also a shell of the 3rd down draw plays that our john fox offense was. damn, i just wish we had any of those offenses except 2010, we would have a winning record.

i seriously don't know why anyone could possibly put up this argument, he is just so sensitive and it's embarrassing we have "fans" like this.

I prefer to remember the game winning drives Delhomme used to *LEAD* the team on in the 4th quarter.

Pardon me if I'm not impressed with our QB throwing off his back foot and knocking out the dood in row 6. Or all those false start penalties that kill drives.

You act like you want Chud to stick around the way you're caping for this offense that is known to only put up 14 points a game, and can't score when it matters most.

Im not saying anything most panther fans arent saying this week. Everybody I talk to about Sunday and this season agrees our defense is a joke and has no nuts like a vasectomy. Its like they get punched in the mouth late in the game and just lay down.

lol....you are the epitome of homer where cam is concerned.

are you even reading what i wrote or just talking out of your ass again? if anyone needs to grow a pair, it's you.

who's putting it all on cam? its on the OFFENSE and primarily on CHUD. and it's on the defense for choking at the end.

most lay blame where it is deserved....everywhere.

the offense this year isn't getting the job done. it's not getting on the board nearly enough. that's not the defenses fault. it's the offenses fault.

you are sooo predictable it's not even funny. wait, yes it is. the slightest hint at anything that could be considered criticism of newton has to mean that he's getting all the blame.

you are deserving every bit of negativity coming at you and it's not because you are telling the truth. it's because you are so narrow-minded and tunnel visioned you are blind to the truth.

respectfully, just bow out.

    • That's my biggest concern with making him the 2C.  You split up the Aho Jarvis bromance that accounted for a lot of points.  If Jarvis excels as a C, it could help the team even more though.
    • The Saints being that high is the one that killed me. Chris Olave might not know his name at this point, Shaheed is coming off injury as well, so 31 year old Brandin Cooks might be your best WR...coming off a 260 yard season over 10 games. Kamara is Kamara, but didn't have 1,000 yards last year and is about to turn 30.  Toss in the fact that Taysom Hill may be the best QB on the team and I truly don't understand Barnwell's thoughts beside seeing the names "Olave" and "Kamara" and going yep, that sounds better than "Chuba" and "Thielen".
    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
