Jordan Officially Interested In Changing Name to Hornets

I understand why we all would be thrilled to have the team name Hornets back. My question is why in the world would this cause fans to suddenly show up? Its the same exact product. I was a Charlotte Hornets fan. I was at Charlotte Bobcats fan. If this team were the Charlotte terds I would still pull hard for them. Im as excited as anyone to get the Hornets back(if we do) bc of the history, but im confused at the fans who said they showed up to watch the Hornets but not the Bobcats bc of the ownership and other reasons. Hornets=Bobcats. Bobcats=Hornets. Either way, why would a name influence a fans decision to come to games or not?

People refusing to support a team because of their name........... only the Charlotte local sports "fanbase" could fathom up a "cause" so pathetic and stupid.

That said, if we do take back the Hornets name they better keep it retro and not use that crappy logo and jersey changes that have happened since they've been in NOLA

Also the statistics are gonna be awkward as hell. If we take back Hornets...is Dell Curry the all time 3pt shooter for the Pelicans or the Charlotte Hornets? Will we negotiate just the Charlotte history part and they keep the NO Hornets part? Combine that with the Bobcats current history, essentially wiping out probably every team record? Or if they don't give us anything we won't be able to really associate with the 90s Hornets past the name I'd imagine, no Muggsy LJ Zo footage on the jumbotron opening night.

When Okafor comes to town do you still say he's the teams first ever draft pick? Or sit through the long winded explanation they will have to make every game when talking about different player connections to our team.

Definitely gonna be a weird process if it happens.

I wouldn't say that. I believe you'd just be reading a media guide that said Emeka Okafor was the first draft pick in Charlotte Hornets history in 2004, and the Hornets' all-time playoff record is 0-4.

Whether NOLA gives us our history or not, we should still put up Phills, Bogues, Johnson, and Mourning in the rafters. Period. Can you imagine an opening game at the New Hive, with Hugo running out, those 3 guys in center court watching their jerseys go up? That place would be nuts.

In addition to the name change, they need to renegotiate a better TV deal for the Hornets because there are thousands of people who can't even watch the team if they want to. Any Charter customer doesn't get the games, and the games are blacked out for others. It's ridiculous to have a professional team in the Carolinas that you can't even watch on TV.

I supported the team, just not the name. It honestly took them getting rid of Bob Johnson for me to really, truly get involved with being a fan of the Bobcats.

People that hate the Bobcats, but will now love the Hornets confuse me. They probably aren't real sports fans to begin with.

It's the same product. But what you're saying will be kinda weird trying to find all the links and sorting out the confusion. But ya know what? who cares. Most of the bobcat years are years we wanna forget about anyway!

I'd be cool with being the Charlotte Hornets again. I'm interested in seeing if we'd keep our orange and blue colors or not.

Also, be prepared to go to Hornets games 5 years from now. You'll be seeing people wearing Bobcats gear, because fans love throwbacks.

They're not going to keep the orange/blue colors unless we have a "throwback" game in a couple years.

One reason they changed the colors/court scheme this year is it will make a transition easier to the teal and purple.

    • These are the three deep throw attempts that Will Levis made in week 12. His first one is a beauty; Levis and Westbrook-Ikhine gets the safety to bite on a deep dig only to go over the top for the score. His second throw is another beauty: a crosser to Calvin Ridley reminiscent of Bryce to XL (though Ridley has noticeably more separation on his route). His third and final deep shot was an incompletion from his own endzone on 3rd & 14 with pressure coming down on him (to me, this seems like a solid throw).   Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-02.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-01.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-01.mp4 Levis took half of the deep shots that Young did. The differences are: Ridley had much better separation than XL, which is why his deep crosser turned into a 63yd play since he was able to scamper for another 15+ after the catch. Westbrook-Ikhine holds on to his TD pass. Bryce had to throw one away to preserve time for a field goal. Bryce had two more throws that were incomplete due to the WR Are we really holding the three WR errors and clock management decision against Bryce in order to say that Will was better throwing deep in week 12? That's not passing the eye test nor is it confirmed by the data.
    • If you go on the PUP list before the season starts, you are gone for the year. If you start the year on the PUP list then you can get off of it. Kind of semantics, but we are putting him on the PUP list now which is before week 1, that’s why people who come off of it aren’t really on the PUP list until week 1, hence you usually hear right before the season that they are “starting the year” on the PUP list. I think PUP list and IR may basically be the serve the same purpose now because you also sometimes hear that if a player is added to the IR before week 1 that they aren’t eligible to come off the IR list for the entire year. Now, everyone added to IR (post week 1) can come off after 4 (or more) games so the PUP list is meaningless since it’s 6 games and starts at week 1. Anyone added to PUP or IR in the preseason is gone for the year.
    • I saw Brooks maybe a few weeks ago, he was walking pretty normally. of course he wasnt running, jumping and cutting.
