Pro Football Focus Had this to Say About Cam

Now this is last year after Cam played Atlanta the 2nd time but this was their take:

"He is unique in two ways: a huge percentage of his bad throws are overthrows and when he does go astray, I’m not sure anyone misses by a bigger margin; the second interception must have sailed at least 10 feet over his target. The truth is, if you take away his running, he’s a bottom-third quarterback, if you include it (which obviously you must), he’s at the bottom of the top third. If he can sort out the issues with accuracy and inconsistency, he could go much higher than that."

This is what they had to say after the Atlanta team this year second go around:

"This was one of the better performances we’ve seen from Cam Newton (+4.4) this season. Not necessarily in terms of his overall grade — this marked the third time in three weeks he’s graded above +4.0 — but more so regarding his presence in leading a struggling Panther team to a much needed victory against the one-loss Falcons. Newton was in command from the start, leading Carolina to points on each of their first half possessions and finishing the game with two touchdowns and a 67.6% adjusted accuracy percentage — his highest since Week 2. As good as his passing was, he was electric running the ball, as he gained 116 yards on just nine carries, including a 72-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. His best play of the day came not on that touchdown run, but at 14:11 of the second quarter when he made a spectacular run to pick up the first down on 3rd-and-11, eluding a sack attempt by Corey Peters in the process.

He was not perfect, though, as he displayed shaky deep and intermediate accuracy at times, completing just 6 of 16 passes over 10 yards in the air. However, he excelled on short throws, going 17 of 18 on throws under 10 yards and behind the line of scrimmage."

This is before the Chargers game:

"Speaking of the Panthers’ offense, Cam Newton has been on fire. He has posted a +16.3 grade in the past four games. In this form he is able to do it all, whether on the ground or through the air, as proved by his 287 passing yards and 116 rushing yards in Week 14. The Chargers’ defense will look to contain the ground game and count on our highest-rated safety, Eric Weddle, to help in coverage. If Newton continues to dominate as a duel threat it will be a long day for the Chargers’ defense."

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
