Interesting figure, a real leader, and he thoroughly whumped the Iraqi army, ( which at the time was the 4th largest in the world and I'm sure gave our war planners more than a few sleepless nights pondering ). I worked at a small shop directly on Market Street north of Wilmington in the months leading up to the Gulf War and for about 6 weeks straight, there was a constant procession of military vehicles heading south to the Wilminton State port and Sunny Point MOT. I had no idea we had that many tanks, hummers, APC, and etc. - the numbers I saw pass by were mind boggling. I knew we were going to war before the first shot was fired. I have to wonder what the outcome of that war would have been had another general been in charge of coalition forces.

I had the opportunity to work on the planning stages of Desert Storm going back to almost 2 years before Iraq strolled into Kuwait and precipitated the whole thing. Everyone knew it was bound to happen, the only question was when. By the time we were ready to move I was in a completely different time and place in the Persian Gulf and there was a feeling of satisfaction knowing I had something to do with the planning and getting to be there when it all went down.

I met the General some 10 years later and he signed a copy of his book for me. Still one of my library treasures.

    • Dave in a presser gassed up Anthony Tyus III and dying to see him on the field.  I mean 3 is all that needed right, and Dan loves etienne. He's one year filling in his body. If brooks is back, toss in chubba, thats 3.
    • After seeing hits in the last two UDFA pools, I do not in this group sorta of a let down after I gassed myself up.  Not like I know of their games, but just expected more. The duke DT only has to beat out hunte (2025 UDFA) or Ray (DL coach's kid) or even Cam Jackson mid 2025 5th.  I thought they would bring in more edges, IOL, TEs, etc...
    • My 2 favorite picks, since you didn't ask? 3. Brazzell II.  A 1000 yard WR with 4.37 speed and checks all the boxes for a Z Wide Receiver.  IN THE THIRD ROUND!!! 5.  Sam Hecht.  I think he will take over as the starter at some point this season and never look back.  IN THE FIFTH ROUND. Runner Up:  2. Hunter:  We were targeting a DT early in this draft because we did very little to replace Robinson in free agency.  Hunter was our guy and he will start. In addition to that, you got a starting tackle that should man one side of the new OL we will build for Bryce's second contract. A starting WR, offensive lineman, defensive lineman and possible Offensive tackle (at some point during this year from this draft will start.  UNREAL. In addition, I don't doubt that Wheatley (5th round) takes the FS job by next year and Lee III is Jackson's replacement in 2027.   Finally, even Kuwatch should be a special teams demon and LB depth.   Last year's draft was so good it was ugly.  This one will turn out to be uglier.  No offense Basbear--this ain't about you.
