Rumor killer on Chip Kelly wanting 'total control'

I'd give him full control if I was an owner... Id also put clauses in his contract so that if I didn't like what he was doing (by talking to players and others on the coaching staff/scouting dept. I could cut my losses with minimal financial obligation. I coach can get fired just as easily as any employee that works anywhere. Giving him "full control" is a BS term that ESPN came up with anyways, and now everyone has run with it. It's easy to confuse the sheople... The Wolves on the other hand are never convinced

The biggest obstacle to him coming here is the fact that we won't even know if we're getting rid of the one we have until after the GM is hired more than likely. Assuming we do get rid of Rivera after the GM comes to town by the time Kelly, being a hot commodity, will likely have already narrowed his field.

Every day we don't have a GM in place it's more and more likely that Rivera is here next year OR we hire a "leftover" coach.

Don't think JR will get into a bidding war for Kelly:

Informed sources have confirmed to DuckTerritory that Oregon head coach Chip Kelly has in fact emerged as the clear-cut front runner for the vacant head coaching position for the Philadelphia Eagles. Confirmation from sources comes on the heels of a Philadelphia Inquirer report published Monday that indicated Kelly is the leading candidate to replace former Eagles head coach Andy Reid, who was fired Monday after accumulating a 130-93-1 overall record in 14 seasons with Philadelphia.

It is unknown at this time whether Philadelphia has or is planning to offer Kelly final say on all roster transactions, which sources indicate could be a deal-breaker in all potential contract negotiations between Kelly and prospective NFL franchises.

Additionally, an NFL source indicated Wednesday morning that Kelly "will interview" with Philadelphia and the Cleveland Browns, with the Browns expected to offer more control over personnel.

Oregon sources indicate that Kelly has been quiet regarding his plans for the future. His focus seems to be on the Fiesta Bowl, with decisions about his future coming quickly thereafter.

The No. 4 Ducks play the No. 5 Kansas State Wildcats in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on January 3.

Giving full control to someone with no NFL experience? good luck with that

Kelly scares me - he'll either be a success or a huge flop. All the other recent college to NFL coaches have had some NFL experience, while Kelly has squat in that department:

Three NFL head coaches left college head-coaching jobs to take their current positions, but all three of them had very different backgrounds than Kelly: Jim Harbaugh was an NFL player for 14 seasons and an NFL assistant for two seasons before getting the head job at Stanford and then jumping to the 49ers. Pete Carroll was an NFL head coach in two different spots and had four different NFL assistant jobs before becoming head coach at USC and then leaving for the Seahawks. And Greg Schiano had three seasons of experience as an NFL assistant before going to Rutgers and then leaving for the Buccaneers.

      I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.

      Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.

      Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
