Would you hire this guy as your head coach and pay him huge bucks?

So if I told you that a very successful college coach had never played in the NFL or even in college, had no experience as a coordinator or position coach in the NFL and prior to his current job coached at John Hopkins, Columbia, and New Hampshire. Would you be in a sure fire to hire him?

I wouldn't. People are so crazy about the read option and uptempo offense of Oregon that they forget that their coach has no NFL experience of any kind and has coached a good D-1 program for 4 years.

Name me one successful college coach who didn't play in college or in the pros with no NFL experience who was instantly successful in the NFL as a head coach.

I would ask you for more information about the guy you're describing before I said whether I wanted him or not.

You can't sum up a coach in a few paragraphs well enough to make a decision.

Name me one college head coach with his type of resume who was successful in the NFL as a head coach right off the bat.

I have my doubts about him too, but he does seem to be very well regarded in NFL circles (by coaches, GM's, etc.). That makes me take him a bit more seriously.

JR/new GM should probably at least talk to him to form their own impressions.

The Patriots sure thought he was worth studying

Looking at how he runs his practice is not the same thing as saying he would be great head coach. As I said, then hire his offensive coordinator as your coordinator. None of this means he will be a great HC. Rivera has a history of being a great defensive coordinator. People emulated his work but does it make him a great head coach??

Hiring Josh McDaniels worked out real good for the Broncos didn't it?

    • It really is insane how they always try to rig the game vs Dallas. Two exceptions being our playoff games.    Had we lost it definitely would have been right up there with the 2014 Playoffs vs 49ers, Dallas 05, Saints 2018 Playoffs, and SB50 as all time rigged games.
    • Say you don't understand PFF without saying you don't understand PFF... Every week seems like some of the same people are complaining about something they clearly don't understand.  I'm not saying they are the end all resource out there but once you understand their methodology you can start to appreciate some of their work. For example, their grading system isn't a high school grading system, try to look at some of it in relative terms.  Rico had an 82 rushing grade, that's pretty good.  I would be curious to know how that compares to every other running back this past weekend. Also, I think he had a few penalties, which if I'm not mistaken are graded pretty harshly.
    • Can we go back to square one for a minute and remember what we paid for this guy and how he was sold?  He was like, the anti excuse. Makes everybody better, Did we get that?  I think the answer is still coming but so far you might can say that for a game or two.  Cam had issues with personnel every season almost. Horrible OL, but he had receivers. Decent to good OL no receivers. Etc. Bryce needs to stand up, or keep standing up, however you want to put it. It is big boy time in year 3. He doesn’t have to make the playoffs but there is a standard. We’ll see what happens.  But the excuses are just fuging tired.  ps, I mean let’s not crown him when he has franchise record production in two wins,.. let’s see when they stop that, how he does then.
