Which 6 playoff teams won't be back next year?

Since 1998, an average of 6.14 playoff teams did not return the following year.

Of course I hope the Panthers are one of the ones that make it in next year that didn't make it this year.

Six teams seems like an awful lot.

Like any other guessing game I don't have a lot of rhyme or reason but my guesses to NOT repeat are:

Ravens: No RayRay, Reed is getting older, Suggs is damaged goods

Vikings: AP cannot repeat this success and Ponder throws like a girl

Redskins: I am very worried that RG3 has a torn CL and getting 1600 out of Morris seems flukey

Falcons: I hate the Falcons, what can I say?

49ers: Something about the QB controversy has me spooked

Bengals: Dalton sux

These Tems didn't make it this year. I don't see them getting in next year.

At 7-9 this year. Team in Salary Cap Hell, having to get rid of veterans and replace with rookie draft pics. Sean Payton coming back for the Saints. I'd say Carolina Panthers will miss the Playoffs again.

I don't see KC Chiefs getting that good all of a sudden.

Same for the Raiders.

Same for the Jags. However they have the biggest cushion in the cap if they want to spend money in FA.

Of the teams that made it tihs year:

I'd say the Bengals will miss the playoffs next year. Ravens may not be as good as they have been in years past. I think the Steelers will be better. Bengals will miss it next year.

49ers may have a fight on their hands it the Seahawks are as good as they were this year! But they both will likely make it, one as a wildard again.

Baltimore

Washington

Minnesota

Cincinnati

San Francisco

I think the rest are in, so I give you 5 :)

Colts are just going to improve IMO

Seattle looks like a solid young radiply improving team (although well see in Marshawn can put up te same numbers next year)

Atlanta's here to stay unfortunately

Along with New England, Houston, Denver and Green Bay

Considering San Fran, you like me about the QB debacle?

In order of least likely to return to most likely:

Colts

Vikings

Redskins (especially if the injury to RG3 turns out worse than expected and/or he has recurring problems)

Bengals

Baltimore

Green Bay (gut feeling, the Bears FINALLY get it done next year and win the division)

Bonus points: the divisions with 2 teams will be the NFCS, NFCW, AFCE, and AFCW

Just feel Seattle is getting stronger and who knows how good Kapernick will fare over a full season and Wilson is legit... I see them taking over the West Division next year and others teams slipping past SF (like ... Ahem ... The CAROLINA PANTHERS!)

    • And that makes you right.
    • Mel Kiper said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn't a successful NFL starter too. Just because the experts make a claim doesnt mean it's true either.  Bryce may be a serviceable QB for someone. Serviceable QBs don't bring you a perennial winner or lead you to the playoffs over and over. Serviceable QBs also dont get 50m plus per year deals which is what a Bryce extension would look like.  The stats show he hasn't been even a serviceable QB in the 3 years he's been here. The eye test shows he hasn't put together 2 franchise QB salary games back to back in 3 years.  Complain all you want about people being negative, but people pointing out that Bryce is held to a different standard than anyone else on the team isn't complaining. It's stating the obvious.
    • We have big bodied WRs and 3 TEs who all have potential and each bring something different to the table. I never saw the need to go out there and try and find a new starting TE.  While it's nice to have a guy like McBride, Bowers, etc, I think a team's better use of the cap is by having TEs on rookie contracts or cheap vets, not having to pay elite TE money.
