My Precombine Mock 2.0

Recommended Posts

1. Jesse Williams – DT , Would love to have an OT here but Fisher is off the board and everyone else is a reach. Hopefully we find some long term help on the interior DL

2. Oday Aboushi – OT, I think he will be here in the 2nd. If not we go Dallas Thomas. My biggest hope is that we can address both lines in the first two rounds.

4. Shawn Williams –SS, Addresses safety needs. Did not get a lot of publicity at UGA because of Bacari Rambo but there have been comparisons to TD. Not a ball hawk but a hard hitter.

5. Devin Taylor – DE Gettleman gets his pass rush fix here. Project with huge upside

6. Braden Hansen – OG Line depth

6(Comp) Connor Vernon – WR – Smart with good hands.

6 (Comp) Theo Riddick – RB Change of pace back and could go into the rotation if we lose one of our horses.

The thing about Devin Taylor is that he doesn't use his length to his advantage. Maybe that is something that can be coached.

I think that's why he falls to the 5th. So far he has relied on natural ability but his game could go to another level if he learns to use his size. I am not completely sold on him but I think he is an intriguing prospect here.

Really? You like him over Richardson? They're both freakishly good athletes, but when you knock Hankins for being a two-down player, I'm surprised that you're so high on Jesse.

If Richardson wasn't a LB playing DT maybe. He is not a solid run defender, a great athlete yes, but that's not what I look for in the DT position.

idk. i think id rather jump on the eric fisher wagon with you first. i know he strong as a bull but i feel you should be able to collapse the pocket and hold the point with the 14 pick

Unless something dramatic happens I believe Fisher will be gone by 14. If I thought it was realistic I would have gladly penciled him in here. I want an OT in the first but just don't think the value will be there when we pick. When Matthews and Lewan opted to stay in school it really thinned the top of the OT field

    • I literally read this 15 minutes ago, but it sums up my feelings perfectly. FYI, the article was about 3 players on the bubble. The author's opinion seems to be Horn is a lock and Renfrow and Moore are fighting for that last spot. David Moore, WR The Panthers' wide receiver room is crowded. There aren't many available spots, at least from the outside looking in. That raises the stakes considerably for those further down the pecking order fighting for recognition. David Moore is among them. The former seventh-round selection is a trusted ally of Dave Canales from three separate NFL stops. He's a solid if not spectacular player, although he underwhelmed when tasked with significant responsibilities during the previous campaign. Moore is battling it out for the sixth wideout spot alongside Hunter Renfrow, Kobe Hudson, and Jacolby George. It could go either way, but Canales' faith and his ability to impact special teams might be enough to get a reprieve."
    • Until LaMelo is traded, this is an unserious organization anyway. There's an insane lack of talent, and the talent all comes with baggage and injury concerns.  I assume the OP was about passing on Ace...but he's exactly the type of prospect doomed to bust here and compound on to the problems with all of his rumored sketchiness.
    • Profit sharing among owners. More ‘desirable’ matchups garner more viewership, leads to more revenue generated and more profit for everyone invested. Y’all don’t think there will ever be a Titans vs Panthers SB, do you? lol, yeah right. Tampa vs Jacksonville? Now that’s funny.  Now, do I think there is ‘the man’ who overlords over all of this? Nah, but bias, even among refs, owners and media can, will, does, and always exist when there is $$ involved.  Refs are people too. Probably football fans, and as such, probably have a favorite team and a favorite player ( why would a non-fan ever become a ref). There is no way officiating will be completely impartial when this is the case. Might be an interesting idea (not in a stalker ish way) to see where each ref grew up/lives, then you could see their likely allegiance. What if 2 refs officiated the same game and they both grew up in say SF, Dallas, Philly or New York? Impartial officiating. Nah.     Would you be? Panthers need a FG to advance in the playoffs, it’s third and long with 45 sec left in the game… obvious hold on your Your team’s center? You calling that? Don’t lie, you know you wouldn’t.
