Sporting News Ranks Head Coaches

Another off-season offering that ranks something:

I'll start by saying Andy Reid is surprisingly high, while Lovie Smith and Gary Kubiak are low.

What has Gary Kubiak done with the Texans to show he is a top 20 coach in the league?? Once you get down to the 20s there really is very little that separates those guys IMO so it is hard to break them down. The top 12 or so are legit coaches that will be perennial playoff contenders...They should have just stopped ranking them after those 12 b/c it became a crap shoot.

Lovie I do agree is a bit low but the Bears haven't done much since their SB run...Cutler should change that tho. They will be in the playoffs this year.

Among NFC teams, only the Giants have a better regular-season record than the Bears since 2005. The Giants are 41-23 in that period and the Bears are 40-24.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
