I am no lawyer but I don't think you can get any felony convictions expunged from you record in NC can you? I know someone with one here in NC and they were told a Governor's pardon is the only way that can happen on numerous inquiries into it. Anyway, don't want to sidetrack the thread but I ws curious if that is not correct.

Not sure about NC but in California you can expunge if you didn't do prison time for it, completed probation without incident, it didnt involve children or domestic violence, and so long as you aren't currently on probation for something else. The guy I got my armed robbery with got his reduced to a misdemeanor and expunged, firearm rights restored and everything. fuging asshole.

I'm looking for a bar position. But I do have about 10 years of construction experience. My dad owns a construction company. I ran a crew for him for a long time. The industry is just so volatile. I've gotten a few jobs over the last two years down here, but I always get laid off after the current project and/or immediate need is over. The really good busy companies all won't hire me because of my felonies. It's all meh.

I'd rather work behind the bar or as a server, it allows me the most flexibility to go back and finish my second degree.

Can you get to the city? Do you have a place to stay?

I can ask around but they would probably want you close by.

Yes, and maybe. I have a close friend in the city that might let me stay on his couch till I get enough money together for a place.

I will ask around my bar buddies.

Awesome. If it helps, the guy I would be staying with is the Bar manager for Orton's Pool Room. They don't have any spots available though heh. I do have great Bar references, the latest being The Forest at Cape Fear National. Even though the circumstances of me leaving sucked, the GM told me he would give me a great work reference.

get something flop that you can earn steady money and pad your savings and sock away some funds, see if you can pay off or get that stuff removed from your record.

otherwise, you go get your 2nd degree you still will have your record standing in your way.

just my two cyber coins.

Going to finish my CIS degree. I can get work with the felonies with it. I wanted to teach with my history degree, this was before I had such a record. It's hard to get a job as a teacher without a record currently, even worse with one.

Also, according to that new law that was linked a few pages back. I now have to wait 15 years after I get off probation in order to get it expunged. I'm still on probation for that bullshit charge I picked up in 2011. There was a thread about it here, if you recall. Waiting 15 years isn't really a viable option for me.

I'll be 45 before I can get a real job? No fuging thanks.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
