Coach Rivera hints at signing Mike Wallace (edited to include link)

I agree. I commented about that a week or so ago that no one was talking about this....

1. Cam throws to TE routes well

2. He plays best in 2 TE sets (offense as a whole does since Cam has been here).

3. There are a lot of very good FA TEs that can be had at a good price.

Chud was running read option early in the year in 3 WR sets which also hurt. It works out of run or pass sets....not so much out of passing sets

i completely agree with this. always felt Cam would be better with a two tight end set.

I agree with those who think we will go after a WR but who that will be remains to be seen. Wallace maybe one of teh receivers who go early in free agency picked up by someone who has lots of money to spend and feels they are one wide receiver away from being a contender. I don't think that is us. Plus I doubt we shoot all of our free agent cash bullets on one guy. We will be active in free agency I suspect but whether we find our guys before the draft or after isn't set in stone. Gettleman said he would use free agency to shore up needs so we could go BPA in the draft. He didn't say we would try and lock all of the guys we need before the draft. We may try but I don't think we overpay this time which is why we are restructuring deals rather than dumping players. We don't want 10 holes to fill.

Of course this is all speculation but thought I would weigh in to temper all the thoughts we would go buck wild in free agency the moment it starts.

What about adding a top TE to the passing game? Maybe that is what he meant by "warm." OR maybe that this is the time of year everyone has a poker face and misleads the media.

I think we will add a free agent WR, but I hope it is not Wallace. I think the WR we bring in is on a roster now and will be cut during the next 2 weeks.

In line with that thinking:

I'm sure he's been mentioned before, but it almost makes too much sense not to happen. Good blocker, good enough receiver, as the director of pro personnel Gettleman would have been the one making the recommendation to bring him to NY, shouldn't break the bank. If I had to bet on one single FA acquisition happening it'd probably be him.

Schefter just said that Wallace will likely be the #1 FA overall and if not overall, he is definitely considered the #1 WR available, and he'll obviously want to be paid as such.

I was never in favor of signing him unless he settled for like 5mil per, but for everyone else, there you have it... He's not coming here in case you didn't know that already.

    • He was so much fun to watch as a player but is a prototypical example of the old "never meet your heroes" adage. Great player, not a great guy.
    • Look.... if us BY "haters" give credit about his GWDs...... Will the BY stans also have honest discussion about the 55minutes before the last 5 in which BY has put up 9/20 for 78 yards 0 TDs???
    • The way they are handling now is how they should have handled it from the start instead of that you get a series, you a get a series. Let Chuba spell until he had some of his step back.  We definitely could have put a better showing against Buffalo and their weak run defense had we employed the same game plan we did against Green Bay. Saints were determined to stop the run and make Bryce beat them, Atlanta had similar plan and the coaches and Bryce were able to respond.  Rico although didnt have the best rushing game was vital in the passing game and his catch and run help get us into the redzone there at the end of regulation probably should have been a touchdown that out of bounds was a judgement call it wasn't conclusive and thus should have went with the original call on the field.  Roco brings that dawg to the offense that it shorely lacked up until Miami game. Interesting it was his call that help seal the win for us, glad the coaches were listening. Hope they can get a deal done and run it back next year.
