Wes Welker

Your stupidity knows no bounds.... Besides if there is one QB that to switch to from Brady it would be Manning.

I remember his time before New England very well. He was mediocre and nothing special at all until Tom Brady crossed paths with him. Tom Brady is pretty much a football Jesus who turns nobody's into stars. Nobody goes on to great careers after they leave the Patriots and most of their players aren't great when they come into the Patriots.

He looked good under Cassel too, Not to mention any of the receivers Manning has made into stars.

2 years / $12 million for one of the best playmakers in the game ... yeah I would take that any day.

Too much of the time, most of you "GM's" micro-manage every facet of the game. Adding a player like Welker bolsters any roster tremendously, regardless if we already have a "Welker-type" WR on the team. Denver made out with a great deal...

Manning / Thomas / Decker / Welker ... fug my head is spinning.

and did i belittle welker??? no i said that belly made a system that works for hm.

i also said welker is a good player.

and its true he does not have enough tds to sniff the hof....his numbers look avg when compared to greats...only thing he has going for him is a 100 catches 5 seasons.

Welker will be good in the Denver system as Manning uses a WCO and likes short throws with running after the catch. He really would not be as good a match in our system. That is not sour grapes but reality. He will be 32 in May and is on the back end of his career. For us he is not worth 6 million a year. I would rather develop Adams or move Smitty to the slot and look for a receiver in the draft. Like it or, we need to stop thinking 1 year fix and look at down the road.

    • If we lose tomorrow we’d have to sweep the Bucs in order to get into the playoffs. With a loss tomorrow the Bucs would then hold the tie breaker if we finished tied If we can’t split with NO then we sure as hell not sweeping Tampa It’s win or go home tomorrow in my eyes  Biggest game since 2017 playoff game imo
    • Grok AI: No, there are no credible reports that the Carolina Hurricanes offered Jake Guentzel the same contract terms as Tampa Bay (7 years, $63 million total, $9 million AAV) before he signed with the Lightning. Reliable sources, including The Athletic, consistently reported that Carolina’s offer during negotiations was an eight-year deal worth $64 million ($8 million AAV). Guentzel did not accept it promptly, leading the Hurricanes to trade his negotiating rights to Tampa Bay on June 30, 2024, for a 2025 third-round pick. He then quickly signed the 7x$9M deal with the Lightning on July 1, 2024. Guentzel himself later reflected (in 2025 interviews) that staying in Carolina was his initial preference, but negotiations stalled and “didn’t work out,” with Tampa’s opportunity becoming a “no-brainer.” No reports from outlets like ESPN, NHL.com, or insiders (e.g., Elliotte Friedman, Pierre LeBrun, Frank Seravalli) indicate Carolina ever matched or offered the Lightning’s exact terms—total money, AAV, or length. The extra year was Carolina’s key advantage, but they reportedly stuck closer to $8M AAV and moved on when Guentzel explored options.
