Smitty 2.0

Recommended Posts

Stop with this Smitty 2.0 nonsense, I've heard it for years. David Gettis, Armanti Edwards, some scrub in the 6th round from a D2 school. Every year someone compares a WR with no relevance to Smith, every WR thread is smitty 2.0 (or just feels like it....). There will NEVER be another Steve Smith, so stop with this impossible fantasy and wake up to the real world, we got Smith for only a short time longer, enjoy his magic while it's still here. There is and always will be 1 Steve Smith.

The End.

I was just trolling your thread, bro. I agree with you. There won't be another Smitty. However, I think what people are getting at are those guys "under the radar" that have breakaway speed and the potential to be a steal like Smitty was. We do need a Smitty-esque guy in here that can catch the deep ball whenever Smith retires, so that's what they're trying to say. I don't think Gettis is that guy, but he'll be a DAMN fine #2 or #3 if he gets his shot, IMO. Lafell, Gettis....now we need that #1 to be the heir apparent to Smith that won't mind being a rotational slot guy in the meantime.

like, quit be so annoying. Kapeesh?

Why get so butt hurt over me stating a fact? There will never be another Steve Smith, just like there will never be another Barry Sanders or Joe Montana. People can compare and contrast all they want to, but if someone is to be compared to Smith, I want it to be on the basis of his overall character, not just a small guy who runs fast. If you are psyched about a speedy slot receiver or a future Smith replacement (which I hope we find that guy ASAP) then thats great I am too, but to say Smith 2.0 is giving too much credit to someone who hasn't earned it yet, and that sir isn't worth crying about.

No? No what? If you have something to say make it worth while. There is only one Steve Smith, and I'm tired of him being compared to random D2 scrubs just because they are small or run fast

>calls someone a random d2 scrub

>probably cant even play madden, none the less a real football game

    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
    • I basically made almost the exact predictions on a phone call with a buddy about 3 weeks ago. I really do expect Evero gone before the seasons end, Young to just not able to get over the hump enough and DC to head into next season on a VERY hot seat.
