How would you spread out the money?

Top dollar should be reserved for QB (anything north of $15 million). Next would be DE and LT. Those are the 3 true premium positions and should always get priority in the draft unless you already have the position filled long-term.

After that, probably DT if the player is a game changer, WR and CB would be next up.

That said, if you have an exceptional player at a non-premium position (i.e. someone like Kuechly), you pay them.

We spend way too much on RB, OC, and LB.

Draft Best CB available at 14 (Xavier Rhodes)

Sign a veteran to play safety, like an older veteran, like Adrian Wilson. Just sign Adrian Wilson.

Resign Dwan Edwards. Pick up Canty or Jenkins to play other DT. Fua is not a viable option as we will go down the same road trying to draft one.

Grab a guard and tackle via FA. Draft a guard as well.

Sign a veteran WR a la Devery Henderson to atleast give Lafell competition.

Trade Pickles for an actual jar of pickles, then bring in a vet min QB to hold the clipboard.

Restructure Gross and Beason and if they don't, send them on their way. I'd almost say cut Gross and start fresh at this point.

Dude, we get it. You are not happy with our RB situation. But cherry picking stats is not the way to get your point across.

A complaint without a solution is just a bitchh. Don't get me wrong, you are good at it. It just gets old.

Sure Hurndog handcuffed us with the money he threw at DWill and Stew. You are not the only one that sees that. But you sure go out of your way to point it out.

Maybe, just maybe, Gettlemen has a plan. Naw, no way he does. He is just flying by the seat of his pants, hoping the situation will resolve itself. Or at least that is what you will have us believe.

Nothing cherry picked. We paid a ton for RBs...they provided less offense for us virtually every team in the league got from there RBs.

2013 Cap hit for D-will 8.2 and Stewarts is 3.2. Thats a total of 11.4

and if you count Tolbert who is a FB we are up to 13.4

Now look at this.

Forte is 7.3 and michael bush is 3.5 for a total of 10.8 Million.(Bears)

Arian Foster is 8.2 and bee tate is 900k for a total 9.1 milliion(Texans)

Adrian Peterson is 13.9 and Gerhart is 1 million for a total of 14.9 million(Vikings)

Lynch is 8.5 million and Leon Washington is 2.9 million for a total of 11.4(Seahawks)

they also have a fullback getting 2.5 million. which would bring their total to 13.9 million

Ray Rice has a hit of 5.7 and their fullback Vonta leach gets 4.3 million for a total of 10 million.(Ravens)

Chris Johnson is 12 million by himself( Titans)

Our depth is better than anyone listed here who spends similar amounts to us on the position.

Add in the fact that we have the least amount commited to qb position cap hit wise than all of those teams listed aside from the Vikings then we are not doing as bad as some make it out to be.

We have less commited to offensive skill positions than most teams out there and by the time Cam's hit goes up we will have very little vested outside of him on offense. We are okay there.

Now look at this...

Peterson/Gerhart - 2,166 yards

Lynch/Washington - 1944 yards

Foster/Tate - 1,703 yards

Rice/Pierce - 1675 yards

Stewart/Williams - 1,073 yards....1/3 of there rushing yards where against the Saints, lol. .thankfully we played the worst D in NFL history twice, otherwise the gap would have been much worse.

As you can see....our great depth we LOVE to brag about did what exactly? Name a RB 1-2 punch we had more production than?

Poor use of money...yet people stil try to convince themselves it isn't

Just imagine if we didnt have Williams 737 yards and Chud wasnt the OC.

Could the money be better spent? Of Course it could, but its not anything thats holding us back from being a playoff team.

Go ahead and come back with your response but I am not going back and forth with you on this subject.

If we didn't have Williams....we still have Cam, Stewart, Tolbert, and someone else. Life seems just dandy in terms of talent avaliable to run regardless of OC.

Not having talent at important starting positions is what is holding us back....so wasting money definitely plays into that.

From what I can see, you don't so much decide where you are going to spend the cap as try to use a cost versus production valuation to keep your best veterans like Charles Johnson while paying guys coming off their rookie contract like Hardy this year and Newton in a few. When you have 3 guys making up 15-20% of your cap it drives decisions in others places. You want to keep all the productive players you have but you can't. So you end up dumping Gamble for cap reasons and suddenly corner went from a big expense to now very little. If we draft a corner high you will have little invested for four or five years to a guy who hopefully contributes right away at least in 1 phase of the game if not more. Look at linebacker, we are so high because of Beason not Anderson, and Kueckly. If we can restructure him then linebacker isn't as huge of an expense.

Back and forth each year we manage the cap by restructuring, signing quality free agents and drafting well to put the best product we can on the field. Each year relative costs by position go up and down depending on who is coming off their rookies deals, what position they play on the team and whether we want to resign them or let them go. You doesn't want to overspend at any position but you have to spend what the market bears to retain your talent unless you are willing to constantly spin the wheel in the draft too often starting rookies or inexperienced guys. So after you factor in the cost of your core group, you try and plug as many holes as you can in free agency for the money you have and you draft BPA in the draft. Each year you juggle all 3 elements as the costs increase but the cap stays flat. Next year there will be even more of our good players released so we can stay under the cap. it is going to be that way around the league. And we will do the same thing we did this year, everything we can to retain as many of our productive players as we can. We will have plenty of good free agents to choose from and we can add quality athletes in the draft. We will have to draft well, be creative with the cap, and find good value in the free agent market. You can really plan only so far ahead. You need an overall philosophy but you also have to remain fluid as things change from week to week.
