Panthers cut James Anderson

I feel that there are two things that had an extreme negative impact on Hurney!

Going into 2005 NFC Champ game without a viable running back and Peppers just walking away! He began overcompensating for these two instances and I'm glad we have someone without that scarring to clean up this mess! Solid move! Can't wait to see his whole body of work!

Cam Newton has been a play away from being a winning team both his seasons. He is on the verge and so it this team. Future is now....we can win now.

But you can't extend Cam next year without cutting bad money. Anderson's contract was bad money. DeAngelo's contract is bad money....there's money on this team that has to be dealt with in order to keep the true future of our team.

well I agree we need to rid ourselves of bad deals like Williams, Godfrey's next year etc. GM just has to do general housecleaning b/c both years we are pressed.

Keep in mind, Joe Flacco just landed the largest deal in NFL history for a QB. His cap hit for 2013 is only around 7 million with that contract....realistcally, Cam could get a deal that wouldn't be that tough to deal with in normal situations.

Then it balloons to 15 in years two and three...

Beason better do what is needed of him. Especially given his injury history and that Jason Phillips is perfectly capable of starting and being a tackling machine

No hes not man. Hes a liability. That man cant cover no ground.

Whats up with fans thinking these "ST" guys can play? They're nothing but ST player. Get that in your mind. They're no diamond in the rough.

Anderson is small potatoes. What isn't, is there are two OLBs now that have an injury history.

Gettleman best address that.

Pretty sick and tired of hearing 'Hurney did this, Hurney caused that. Fox this and Fox that'.

My tickets cost the same.

As I just wrote the check for $4200 for this year's tickets, i really have to ask myself what I am doing.

I expect Gettleman and Rivera to put a competitive, at least 8-8 or 9-7 team on the field this year. I don't want to hear excuses why they don't.

I suspect that is were a lot of PSL holders are coming from.

If cutting Anderson takes away a win next season, but the players we get add 2 or three wins over the coming years, it's the better decision period.

I'm sorry your tickets are expensive. But making decisions with only one season in mind is how teams stay mediocre or bad.

well....if he was a great QB it would be fine.

I am not worried about Cam. Give him a fat deal if he does something this year. A big deal on a young great QB can be tinkered with along the way. They could throw cash at him along the way in minor reworks.

This cut was all about next year. It isn't a June 1st cut. The Panthers are saving only 200K this year, but next year they save a lot. My guess is this cut was more about not wanting James Anderson and wanting to move into a new direction.

Very likely. Man, I am so impressed with Gettlemen--this reflects a healthy attutude. Nextt year, we have Hardy's contract, Lafell etc.

Gross is the key to a severe man crush on DG.

    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
