McShay 2 Round Mock

If I have a preference for a D-lineman in this draft it is Brandon Williams. I think he'd fit great here. Plays 1 through 3 tech.

He would line up nicely next to D'wan and can also complimemt Hardy or Alexander when they're pushed inside. I think he will definitely be a target in round 2.

For me right now:

Round 1: Nuke Round 2: Brandon W.

1 of those open minded Wr people rayzor was talking about.

We can't be drafting a defensive player every year though. Chicago always have one of the best defenses in the league and their coach got fired. The best defenses in the league get 35 put on them on a weekly basis. And we can't rely on this read-option stuff until Cam blow his ACL.

would Richardson beat out Dwan for the 3 tech spot, and if i recall a first rounder should be a day 1 starter. plus he will turn 25 at the end of the season, so i would think he has just as many question marks as any other prospect.

Who thought Kuechly would take Beason spot last season?

Plus you usually play 2 DT in a 4-3. And we rotate a lot now.

And The Saints had the #1 offense and still had the same record as us.

So defense is still kinda important.

Beason could not stay healthy, and was underperforming.show me a team that plays two 3 tech? now remember you said a #3 WR is not worth a 1st round pick, so a #3 DT is? why?

Tampa Bay with Waren Sapp and Booger McFarland.

Again who thought Beason would get hurt or under perform?

so you mean to tell me that Sapp and McFarland both line up as 3 techs? neither guy was responsible for playing as a NT or 1 tech? you de realize that you are leaving both A gaps uncovered by lining up your 2 DTs in between the OG and OT. now your LBs are going to get killed by the C and OG because they can get to the 2nd level with ease. i can see this in a passing situation maybe, but you are asking to get run on in certain situations.

the second guy from the right( on the DL) is the 3 tech, the other guy is a 1 tech. this is the tampa 2 defense that Boger and Sapp played in. Boger played the 1 tech, not 3 tech.

Booger was a 3tech playing 1 tech and was way smaller then Dwan and Sheldon. So 2 3tech have been lined up at the same time.

lmao he is not a 3 tech if he line up at 1 tech NT. he may have had the size and skills to play 3 tech but he played the 1 tech. Dwan has proved to not be that good at run defense or taking on more then 1 blocker which is what a NT does, so are you willing to play Sheldon there at the 1 tech? if so every NFL team will thank you for doing so.

    • Boy we agree on the dink and dunk. I don’t want to watch that kind of football.  I mean okay if you win with it, it could be tolerable but it feels claustrophobic, constrained, limited, boring.  But for some reason I love a smash mouth heavy run game that wins the LOS and gets the backs to the second level.
    • I am really sorry  that  happened to you they say to never meet your sports heroes i have friends who met  mickey mantle when they were young and he was a belligerent alcoholic at the time  ut broke their hearts  I had the opportunity to meet and spend  time with Cam Newton.     He was the polar opposite of Steve Smith and his public image.   Polite.  Honest when asked question.  You could tell the things that mattered to him and the things that  didnt. The disappointments in himself and the things that hurt him  those qualities make him quite a good interviewer too  i genuinely liked him   Im sure as young, rich, sports hero, he has not been a choir boy but there is goodness in him  the time i met him i took one of my friends with me from the west coast. She said she didn't like him and wasn’t enthusiastic about meeting him.  She left loving him   No one can say anything bad about ‘her Cam’ anymore
    • Agree about oline. They've tried their best to improve that area. But honestly, has it looked like the most expensive oline in the NFL to you? Not just with Bryce. With Dalton's one game where they almost got the old man killed.  Also YAC shouldn't always be hitting a guy in stride while he's running full speed. Pickens killed us after the catch and those weren't all hit-in-stride plays. I remember a play in Miami when a guy caught a 5 yards curl and took it like 30-40 yards to the house. We don't have that in Carolina. Horn might be the closest thing to that but he can't get significant PT for whatever reason. If Bryce keeps trusting his receivers to make plays, I think he'll become more consistent. Seemed like he only trusted TMac. And force feeding one receiver isn't sustainable. Defenses will start to blanket him and take him out of the game. And yeah, keep taking deep shots. I hate all that dink and dunk football. Hate it.
