I have an announcement

NanceUSMC

Recommended Posts

About 3 months ago a routine checkup with the Dr returned some less than stellar results... She wanted to put me on meds for cholesterol, and I suspect BP meds were soon to follow... I told her to keep them, and that I wasn't interested in the medication...

Well, fast forward to today...

As of this morning I'm down 50 pounds, and my cholesterol is down 100 points (160)... I've hit my target weight (173), and am back to the size I was as a 25 year old US Marine...

New Year's Resolution : DONE!

=)

thats what i told my doc. low # for BP was a shade high. he didn't push meds but said if i don't make some adjustments it could be an option. i said no way.

focused on the sodium intake and just tried to sweat more. didn't destroy the way nance did but have seen #'s go down.

Good for you. Was it a diet change or exercise or both?

I put myself on a calorie count, eating lots of veggies and fruit, fish and chicken, while cutting out sodas, sweets, red meats, etc...

Then I encorporated a workout regimine... My personal workout was 5 miles / 5 days a week...

I wanted to see fast results, so I (admittedly) went extreme on both ends of that spectrum... My wife is doing a more methodical diet and is achieving nice results, too...

1 minute of skipping rope = 3 minutes of jogging

just something to think about

i read recently that some boxing gyms won't you allow to spar or even train if you can't do sets of 3x3x3 minutes skipping rope. not sure exactly what that means 3 mins and 30 seconds between for 3 sets or something like that i'm guessing

i've tried google to find out with no success

i'm definitely going to work up to doing some of these:

that's awesome Nance....good for you man!

it's sad that we need a potential life altering doctor's appointment to drive us to do something like this and I'm the worst culprit of them all. I really need to try to get motivated without the bad news first!

happy for you!! Keep it up!

    • We agree here dawg. I'd love for Bryce to succeed as would all huddlers. I have not seen a single huddler hate Bryce for anything other than his play on the field / potential / skillset. He hasn't gotten any of the irrational hate having nothing to do with football that Cam got. And yeah I understood going into this season with Bryce again as there weren't a ton of options, but man we missed the fuging mark on upgrading at backup QB with someone who could actually push Bryce. Bryce had zero pressure on him with a 100% washed up Dalton being the only other NFL caliber QB in the system. That absolutely needs to change this offseason. Ideally with an actual starter upgrade but that seems extremely unlikely due to not having many FA options and a bad draft. But at the very least with someone like you mentioned, young/upside and/or day 3 pick in the draft.   Another note, we have a top paid and top performing OL, great young talent at WR incl. likely OROY, great RB group, average all around TE group, offensive coach with creativity in the system and good play designs (poor situational playcalling but still I put out current offensive coaching staff over Shula who held Cam back for instance). Not the absolute best situation for a QB to be in, but still a very good situation around him. And yet we have a bottom 8 offense (6th lowest points scored). Imagine taking a victory lap for a QB leading his team to the 6th lowest points scored in the league and the 22nd highest passer rating (despite being asked to do less than many other QBs; i.e. Bo Nix who isn't great either and has a slightly lower passer rating but Sean Payton actually lets him try to throw the ball deep and has him throw significantly more than Bryce). Crazy
    • similar to Atlanta and the NHL.  Atlanta has lost two NHL teams (and lost a minor leaguer).  Now there's another coalition pulling together another proposal for Atlanta to get an NHL expansion. While I'd like hockey to be back in Atlanta 'cause hockey is fun, I am skeptical that it'll happen based on previous teams' experience here alternatively: similar to Atlanta hosting a Major Tennis Tournament in advance of the US Open every mid/late summer.  Aside from the fact that Atlanta is said to be the country's largest Tennis playing city (with both USTA and ALTA, along with a number of side leagues) - playing tennis outdoors in Atlanta summer is miserable *and* they had difficulty attracting players... ticket sales were not good. So the Atlanta Open closed after 14 years.  They just couldn't make it happen, even if for all intents it appears to be massive tennis interest in the surrounding area.
    • So I saw where Luke was doing that show parallel to the game. Whatever it was, statcast something something, knew it would be a good watch. I don’t get ESPN any more but that would be one of the about few things I would watch outside of games.     He doesn’t fool around on the radio broadcast.
