Stedman Bailey visiting Panthers today

To be honest? I like him more than Austin.

A bit stronger and runs better routes. Goes up and gets the ball and very physical.

I definitely feel like he's more than a slot guy. He's not going to be the flashy play maker Austin is but he's a very talented WR and I still see him making a ton of plays.

yep, like what i see :thumbsu:

trading back in the draft would be such a win win for us.

I'm generally a fan of trade downs, especially if you're not enamored with the choices at your spot.

Iffy on whether that happens this year though, or if it should. Got a feeling there will be some pretty good players available at pick 14, players we can use.

If you do wanna trade down of course, ya gotta have somebody wanting to trade up. Sometimes that's the big catch.

agreed and i fully understand.

I feel depth is more important atm. With the possibility of some legit playmakers still there at 14, someone might bite.

everything happens so fast in round one and who knows until then. im along for the ride and will prob change my mind a couple more times but as of now i see depth as a bigger need and I would like to see Gmaniac with a couple more picks in his pocket. :bbq:

Used to always wish we were one of those teams that stockpiled draft picks. I envy those teams.

Marty Hurney certainly loved to trade, but it was generally a straight swap of one kind or another. He didn't tend to go for extras.

Gettleman? Guess we'll see in three weeks.

Senior highlights

Could you be happy if we wound up with Bailey after Austin going ahead of our pick, or would you always put him in the "settled for the next best thing" category in your mind?

Or for that matter, how would you react if the Panthers did get a shot at Austin but passed on him for someone else and chose Bailey in a later round?

I actually would like the Panthers to trade down to a late 1st round pick and a get a 3rd round pick. Austin's great and all but in the end he is just one player and the team needs more picks. Then I would want them to pick up Bailey.

Now if they dont trade down and have the option to take Austin I would be pissed but used to it as the Panthers never draft a WVU that I like.

Bailey to me will be a good Slot WR and is going to be a player. Alot of teams will be kicking themselves for passing on him the years to come.

One other player from WVU I would like to see the Panthers take is Josh Jenkins OG. Should go in round 5 or 6. Great size only issue is knees.

Okay, so now I gotta wonder what it is you dislike about Austin

I know he's undersized, but others his size have been successful and he's looked durable so far. What's got you turned off on him as a Panther?

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
