Who's your "prime target"?

Mr. Scot

Yea, I don't particularly want Austin at #14. He could be good but it's too risky in my opinion. I'd take Hunter or Hopkins at 14 over Austin. I wouldn't be upset if we took Austin, but he's not in my top 5 or so at #14.

Curious. Would you take Warmack if Tavon Austin were still available?

My ideal draft looks like this:

If Tavon Austin is there @ 14, try to work a trade with the Rams or Vikings (both with multiple first rounders) for an add'l 2nd round pick and 4th rounder. For example, trade with the Rams for their #22 and their 2nd rounder and perhaps 4th rounder for #14. Then, with the traded picks, take Jonathan Cyrien (SS) or Keenan Allen (WR if he works out well) with 1st rounder; Kawan Short (UT) @ #44; and Stedman Bailey (WR) or BPA @ DB, DL or OL with Rams second rounder. With the two (2) fourth rounders, take BPA of whatever we missed with the prior picks.

If no viable trade can be worked out, then I'm ok with taking Austin or BPA..

I would love this.

Thing about Austin is he hasnt had a visit here that I know of. So he might not be a target for the Panthers.

We were at his pro day. Bailey been brought in. I would assume Tavon will be brought in before the draft.

We have mostly met with guys that are projected to go into the 2nd or later like Short, etc. I have yet to hear a big name 1st round projected to have come in. Look like we're working down up. Maybe Gettltman want to make sure he hits those later picks and know or really believe we'll hit yet another impact player at 14. He's saving those players til last.

Now, if already brought in guys like Lane, Sheldon, Star, Warmack, etc. I'd would possibly rule Austin out. But we haven't. Our biggest meeting is April 9 with Keenan.

First and foremost I want a trade down- maybe with San Fran their 31, 34 picks for our 14th....then throw in some other picks to make it work right

I'd pray Cyprien and Keenan Allen (or Deandre Hopkins) were there

I think its wishful thinking but I would love this situation. Take Cyprien at 31, short at 34 and then Deandre Hopkins or Robert Woods with the 44th. Id be pretty damn happy with that.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
