Some Steeler Fans Think Bill Cowher Wants To Coach The Panthers

I was lurking on the Steelers forum and ran across a thread from a fan who was complaining that Cowher was rooting for the 'Canes instead of the Penguins in the Stanly Cup Playoffs. A lot of them didn't care, because they realize he lives in NC now. But a few of them think he's anxiously awaiting John Fox's departure so he can take the job as head coach. Forgive me if this has been discussed before. But do you think there's any validity to that?

I actually believe that to be true. I've been saying the very same thing since he left the Steelers. It's a logical fit. I don't know what kind of money we would offer him, but I have to believe that Snyder in Washington and Jones in Dallas will make a play for him if they decide to make a change on their teams, and whether we can compete with them remains to be seen. But Cowher does live in NC, and went to NC State, and his daughters are attending school in NC as well (I think). I think he's a quite logical candidate to look at if he's available and we stumble. Fox has had a much longer tenure than most coaches, and if we have to rebuild any time soon, a new head coach may be part of that. I like the prospect of Cowher in the 'tude he will bring here.

If he's ever hired!

Based on stats, why would anyone not want Cowher, not to mention that no one could question the toughness of his teams. I doubt any team ever says, Dear Lord, we are playing the Panthers and that defense will just hurt us.

Not that any of this matters.

vs. Fox

Cowher's record

Overall: 149 - 90

Playoffs: 12 - 9

15 yrs game 240 wins 149 losses 90 tie 1 % .623

Fox is barely at .500. 7 yrs 112 games, 63 wins 49 losses

The reason that I would want Cowher over Fox is he seemed to be capable of putting back to back wins together. Fox has yet to have two consecutive winning seasons. The competition is quite stiff this year. Let's see how he does. That was one embarrasing loss at the end of the year, to a team they had two weeks to prepare for. Its not the first time either they have embarrassed themselves on National TV. We'll see.

    • I feel like we are running out of time on dodging this bullet.  It will be us within 5 years or less imo.
    • Brother, I don't have a clue about what to watch, Ive been victim to too many "reality TV" scams. Bear Grylls was the last straw for me.... wait a second I did watch early pawn stars for about 6 full seasons. That slop 90 Day Fiance, Temptation Island, and marriage at first sight shows should be banned. Total trash that get insane ratings.  The last series I watched with GREAT joy and excitement was the first Dexter series on showtime. They do not make any TV movie slop for me in the last 20 or so years. New Dexter was a complete joke. Besides having one gem hidden each year, example I liked dune..... but Im a Syfy junkie.  Hell recently Im on the wine mom schedule with murder shows Forensic Files, dateline, any murder shows copies. My TV/movies knowledge is 20 years ago when history channel had Modern Marvels, MTV played music videos, and BET had Comic View. My gods do I miss those days... Plus Im on a terrible Habit with YouTube shorts, I need to do better...... Sucks being a old soul in this era.
    • Idk maybe. Guys like Favre, Rodgers, Brees also only having 1 kinda takes the heat off the Colts only getting 1 with Manning. And none of those QBs had to deal with the Pats dynasty or Steelers/Ravens mini-dynasties (no they are not dynasties but both those teams were in the mix pretty much every year in the AFC and both won 2 SBs in Manning’s career). Honestly think if the Manning Colts were in the NFC they’d have won 2-3.   An elite QB is a big deal but you still have to build a team around them. They could’ve been like the Dolphins with Marino.
