Some of you guys take Charlotte for granted

Depends on where you want to live. In the city you can get a very nice two bedroom for $300,000. You can get a very nice large 4-5 bedroom, 3500 sq ft.+ all brick home, with 1/2 acre, 20 mins from downtown for around $300,000.

That's incredible! That's a $2 Mil house here. And if you want that much land, you're driving a minimum of 45 minutes from the burbs. I know dozens of people in the area that buy houses like that for that price in West Virginia, and commute 2 hours each way to work in D.C. Commuting 20 minutes to the city from the burbs sounds amazing.

If you want to live in South Charlotte (popular area) you will get less land and pay maybe 100k more for your house. If you are fine with living near the college, you can get that type house starting at $250k and the southeast area starting around 300k. All are between 20-30 mins from the city. House prices are great around here imo.

I have loved Charlotte since the day I moved here back in 1993 at the age of 19. You native Charlotteans will never admit this but Charlotte has grown to what it is today largely due to all us Yankees moving down here. You are welcome.

I'll admit that, anyone who wouldn't is a dumb ass.

The people who hate on Charlotte are typically:

1. Jealous Triangle residents trying to pretend Raleigh has 10% of Charlotte's swag, and

2. Brooklyn Bully

I was actually a Triangle resident (Cary) for 8 years back in my childhood. The place is absolutely gorgeous. Moved to Memphis in 2003 and have missed it ever since. However, I agree that the Raleigh/Durham area does not have swag. Charlotte is much more of a city, whereas Raleigh is kind of a downtown surrounded by suburbs and research parks. From what I've heard (keep in mind I lived there as a child so I wouldn't know) the nightlife in Raleigh is nonexistent.

As far as the comparisons to Seattle no, Charlotte is not a city with a metro of 4 million.

.

But its cool to compare it to Knoxville's metro of under 850k?

Seattle has very populated suburbs. The city itself has a population lower than Charlotte's.

Knoxville sucks but Nashville is a pretty damn cool place.

Memphis is pretty cool too!

I actually agree with Nashville being a really cool place. Probably the lone bright spot in Tennessee.

I live in Memphis when I'm not at school, and I can say with perfect authority that it sucks absolute balls. Not as bad and fugly as Knoxville, but there's something about being robbed at gunpoint that isn't very fun. At least we have Beale St. and FedEx though. Graceland sucks ass.

You actually have a good point. Knoxville's metro isn't that large at all. The city itself only has 180k or something like that if I'm correct. I actually consider it to be a large town more than anything, but that's because I hate it with a passion.

To me the worst part of Charlotte is work traffic and more so the lack of optional transportation. I know there is a bus line, but most people live outside of Charlotte, and the park and ride could be OK if you are going uptown but not really helpful for other places you work. Granted it's not as bad as other cities, but I remember reading that Charlotte is the #1 gas guzzling city in America, because of nonexistent other options. Maybe one day when 74 work is done, 485 finished (and 485 at 85) it'll be better, but who knows. Our city grew up too fast, therefore we're lagging behind on other things, but all in due time.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
