Teams moving up in the draft .How will it affect us?

I see more teams than usual moving up this year:

> San Francisco- With 13 draft picks and a stocked roster who might the 49ers trade up for?

> Atlanta- We all know they have dangled the carrot to get either a db or outside rusher. Will they jump in front of us?

> Jets- Not a trade up but a likely trade with Tampa for Revis

> Vikings have 11 picks with two in the 1st.I look for them to move up to get Harvins replacement

> The Rams have 8 picks with 2 in the first.I look for them to move up for possibly a WR

> The Bengals have 8 picks with 2 second round pick.If there is a player they love they could use one of those 2nd round picks

>Miami- has 9 picks with 2 2nd round picks that should allow them to move up in the 1st if they should need that OT

I feel this draft is difficult to mock simply because there is so many moving parts. How does everyone think this could alter the players most likely to fall to the Panthers? Could the Panthers be a target after what Gettlemen said about trading down?

My guess is that Austin will be gone.I could see someone moving up for a pass rusher and OL as well.

I think Detroit and Oakland will be able to move down.

it won't be an easy sell if someone wants our 14. gettleman set the stage for that. had he said we are looking to trade back, we wouldn't get much. concern about getting 3 dimes for our dollar makes the price go up.

if we don't make the trade, we still get a couple good starters and on of the best personnel guys in the league choosing them and the rest of the draft picks and hidden gems out of the udfa market.

To an extent I agree with what he said but having said that, I prescribe to the saying never say never.

If we could get a 2nd or 3rd round pick without giving up much....I am all about that

the challenge for the Panthers is those that have the flex to trade up AHEAD of them. So unless the guy they have targeted isn't also targeted by those moving up, we can be ok. Otherwise it may force us to tango as well.

I could see someone like the Rams or Vikings moving up for Austin or another WR. The 49ers will likely move up for a Safety. Miami needs at OT....so who knows. My hopes that someone who we are expecting to be gone may still be there when we pick

Would anyone trade down to Minn, if we were to get their 2nd?

If Star and Austin are gone by 14, then I say absolutely.

Swap places with Minnesota:

Draft Cyprien (Safety-FIU) in the first, Get Justin Hunter (WR-Ten) with our original second, and then hope Kawaan Short (DT-Purdue) or Jesse Williams (DT-Alabama) falls to the Minnesota second round spot. If not, take best available corner.

I would consider that a very succesful two day haul for us.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
