I don't see it. A safety is the last line of defense (he has to be a good tackler -- Kenny is not). His instincts and are IQ aren't impressive either. Vaccaro also lacks elite speed so he won't be able to cover slot receivers in the NFL and excel in man coverage against faster TEs and WRs. He'll have to flourish in Zone (which he had issues with at Texas).

Vaccaro is your typical SS (who lacks good tackling).

Still like him more then drafting a slot wr at 14.

I think it's pretty evident based on who the team visited with that the first pick will be either

Austin, Vaccaro or Patterson.

So pick who you like best of those three, then go the other way in the second and DL in the fourth.

I've been calling WR, Safety, DL or Safety, WR, DL since the list of prospect visits starting coming out.

Just going off of visit's those are really the only two that make sense, unless someone falls that wasn't supposed to.

If were going off visits then Nuk, Sly, Cyperian, Hunter Fluker and Allen should be on that list as well.

I have no clue why everyone is so damn interested in Patterson. Just watched a hell of a lot of tape, and outside of him looking like what you imagine a decent receiver would look like, he's quite simply not one. Mediocre awareness, almost no finesse in his route running, and how has it never occurred to anyone that he benefited hugely from playing alongside Hunter? Give me Hunter or Austin or Woods or Hopkins or anyone other than this project.

smith is listed at 185, austin at 175. that would be a 10 lb difference. smith is an inch taller. tavon austin the college isn't as strong as steve smith the veteran who has been through 12 years of nfl training? damn.

you're right tho, facts!

you also have to take into account that austin is faster/quicker than smith ever was. he doesn't look for contact as ferociously as smith does.

That sounds like a person opinion more than fact, not to mention Smith has bigger hand size for someone that small AND Austin doesnt not have Smiths leaping ability, you know, the reason that he can go up a catch balls over receivers taller than him. If Austin was more than a slot receiver he surely would have been playing on the outside like Smitty. Players that can run through defenders are more valued than players that can run around them so if Austin is never gonna be able to do that than i hope we dont break the bank for him when his contract is up down the road, thats just the way it is. And when he can stiff arm a defender bigger than him down to the ground then come talk to me about comparisons. Or did you forget Smitty could do that too? and he wasnt in "12 years" of nfl training when that happened either.

Fluker isn't an option at 14, neither is Hunter, Hopkins, Allen or Cyperian. They all have late first to second round grades. lol

I'll give you Williams though, he's definitely an option, but he's more of a fall back's fall back plan guy at 14.

Do you really give a guy with no Awareness the ball on so many screens, running plays and Option plays if he has no awareness??? No you don't. lol.

Field vision and awareness are two of his strength's and that's why they used him so much in trick plays and as a returner.

Cyprien has a first round grade and only continues to climb up the draft boards.

I've explained this 3-4 times now, his draft stock stopped raising after his pro day. He's firmly slated in the late first - 2nd round.

His average value over the major sites ( I used 6-7 draft sites) Is around 35th overall. Everyone has Elam rated higher then Cyprien now.

Elam was around the 30th rated prospect.

Actually, yes, you do. Tennessee started using him out of gimmick plays because they couldn't trust that he would be where he was supposed to be when running his routes. So they took the thinking out of his hands.

He still lined up in the 2nd WR spot, they just ran more trick plays. He still got the same shots through the air on more traditional routes. His route running was vastly better the second half of the season as well. There's a reason he has a vastly higher rating then Hunter when they are both athletic....

    • No you dont.  He had all those records for years before his final season. Whether career or season he had them all years before his final season in which he played 6 games.
    • Williams covered for Moore by saying they were on the wrong page about Moores specific route. Williams could have easily covered for him by saying he messed up. Suggesting only 1 route was ever intended to be a viable target is absurd.
    • I am going to agree with Linville this time--I think we need to get a veteran edge (We have Jones II, Scourton, and Princely--2 developmental guys and a decent veteran).  We don't really think of Jones because he had a hamstring injury weeks 3 and 4 and a back that required surgery Week 6-17.  He still managed 10 pressures, and he will be 28.  Princely Umanmielen only played in approximately 18-20% of the snaps and he struggled at times.  Basically, he was a situational pass rusher.  He got 1.5 sacks and 10 pressures.  He should improve, but for now, he is what he is.  Scourton gives us hope.  For a rookie (and thanks to Jones II's injuries, he was given more PT), he had 8 sacks--and held the edge.  He played at a first-round draft pick level.  He has the potential to become "that guy" in 2026. We lose Wonnum, who played nearly 700 snaps and amassed 3 whole sacks.  For a person raised a Gamecock, I would not be upset if we purged our roster of all South Carolina alumni.   However, I see it this way:  Wonnum was decent holding the edge, something Patrick Jones II and Scourton have demonstrated at a high level.  He is a liability, if you ask me.    Jones had 7 sacks one season in Minnesota and is known for his inside rushing ability--not what you would call a speed rusher.  I think Princely was a bit disappointing, but he was a bit raw.  Out of college, they described him as being a bit predictable.  I see no reason he will not improve in 2026 and become a situational pass rusher.   Basically, with Scourton and Princely expected to continue to develop and Jones II returning from injury, I think we need another veteran (if we can get a good one) to give us balance and depth.  A third developmental player is not ideal.   Draft:  OT, LB, WR, OL depth, S. Free Agency:  Edge, possibly a WR;  re-sign Mays, Cuhran, BC (??), and Nijman.  Let walk:  Wonnum, Scott, Dowdle.  I see about $20m per year after signing the OL depth.  Spend it on a veteran edge.   Players like Reddick (Tampa), Bosa (Buffalo), Khalil Mack (LAC) could be available on a one or two year deal in the $15m range.  We could splurge here, but I think a veteran situational pass rusher (depending on Jones II's back) is all we need while our 2 young guns develop.
