How dumb of a pick would have Gettleman made if Star didn't fall into his lap?

claiming a draft is a failure on day 3 of the draft is about as dumb as saying an MLB team's season is over after season opener

For me its more of the positions he drafted rather than the players I mean do we really need more lbs/rbs when we could def use more talent at wr/db? Not to mention there were high potential guys still on the board that would have had a chance to contribute unlike the lber/rb we took hell even the guard we took is probably going to take some time to develop

Oh really? So justify drafting a 4th string linebacker, a 5th string running back, a 3rd string DT, and ANOTHER developmental OG that was supposed to be a UDFA. Please, I'm waiting.

Too bad we lost out on Harbaugh, their 4th round may be better then our entire draft.

Yep because smashndash with his 271 post on a fan forum knows better than an nfl GM do us a favor ban yourself.

The guard wasn't going UDFA. LMAO he was a 4th or 5th round pick. Stop reading just walterfootball. Kugbila has great potential and could be a good starter in a season or two. = Good pick in the 4th.

Klein is a depth pick, that's going to play ST right away. He can also play all three spots. Has potential to develop into a starter. = great pick in the 5th.

Barner is a Air back or scat back type of guy who has really good feet and agility, decent speed with solid hands. Adds an extra dimension to the offense that wasn't there before. = Good pick in the 6th round.

What I don't understand is how you can say that someone who has been in the business of scouting and assessing players longer than you have been alive has done a sub-par job with the draft. Oh ya, and you're making this bold statement without ever seeing any of these guys play(youtube videos don't count, bro). So why don't you step off the ledge, and see how these guys develop.

Oh ya, and lets not discount the fact that your original post is purely hypothetical and pointless. Because last time I checked, we were able to land Star.

I love my team, but damn I hate you dumbass fans.

Do you really think your insignificant, worthless asses know how to evaluate a player for the NFL better than our GM?

NFL GMs make stupid clueless moves all the time. Look at Hurney. Look at the Raiders.

    • I can't help but think that you are equating physical attributes alone with wins. I don't subscribe to that thought. No one will argue that Young has a strong arm, but he makes up for it in other ways. The real limitation for him is he needs good route runners with great hands. That's why Young was so good at the end of the 24 season. Thielen and Coker were perfect receivers for him and he had his best games with them. Not having them to start the 25 season hurt. Look at the first 10 games in 25 with a rookie receiver and no Coker and then look at the final 7 games with a more experienced rookie and Coker back and there is a telling difference in Young's performance. Prior to week 10, Young had 1 game with a QB rating above 100, 2 games with a rating above 90 and 6 games with a rating below 90. In the last 7 games with Coker back, Young had 3 games with a QB rating above 100, 2 games with a rating above 90 and only 2 games with a rating below 90. The tools a QB has to work with matter more than their arm strength.  To go back to Darnold and Stafford, yes they both have great arm strength but neither had much success with that alone. As I already pointed out, Stafford, even with a canon for an arm, only had 4 winning seasons in his first 12 years. It was only when he went to the right environment that he had true success.
    • I don't love this role for him if I'm being totally honest The pregame show is much more flash than substance and doesn't seem like the right fit for what Luke would bring to the table, and that's his vision of the game. I'd like to see him do something where it more involves him breaking down film and explaining what he's seeing out there, as he sees the game in a way very few ever have.
