WalterFootball 2014 NFL Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

He's going to ride CB and WR all year long now that we have two good DTs. He had the same burb for our pick pretty much all last year.

Do you blame him though? DT was a glaring weakness and now CB is going to be a big need unless Norman/Thomas/Dockery have great a great year.

Purifoy is an amazing athlete and has great instincts. That's why he is getting such high remarks.  When it comes to pure CB skills he isn't better than someone like Janoris. Hell, I don't even think he has the best coverage skills on his own team...that would go to Roberson.

I'm a big fan of the Draft so I am always keeping up with prospects and the next year draft. This is for the guys like me that are a big fan of the Draft.

Charlie Campbell's Mock

He have us picking no.12 overall, but it's a pretty good draft imo.

(2014 Needs: WR, CB, OT, SS, OLB)

(12) Louchiez Purifoy, CB Florida

(I hate to see that he have us passing on Sammy Watkins (13: Colts), but I'm not upset with this pick)

"Purifoy has displayed some man-coverage skills to be a good cornerback. The 6-foot-1, 189-pounder has an elite combination of size and speed to be a potential man corner in the NFL. He is also extremely physical and plays with a swagger.

Purifoy had a breakout season in 2012, recording 51 tackles, five passes broken up and three forced fumbles. The Gators' defensive scheme largely left him on an island in man coverage, yet he maintained good defense. The sophomore was also excellent on special teams. Purifoy was a backup corner and special teams contributor in 2011. The freshman chipped in 27 tackles and a forced fumbles, too.

Purifoy is so fast and such a dangerous play-maker that the Gators are planning on playing him on offense at wide receiver as well as at cornerback in 2013. Florida says he will play more corner than anything, but if the Gators' young receivers don't step up, Purifoy will be prepared to for double duty." - Charlie

(44) Jordan Matthews, WR Vanderbilt

(I'm a big fan or Matthews. It would be a big surprise for me to see us grabbing him in next year 2nd. He would fill one of our biggest need next year and would be a nice target for Cam toward the future)

"Carolina lands its long-term No. 1 receiver for Cam Newton.

Matthews (6-3, 200) was excellent for the Commodores in 2012, making 94 receptions for 1,323 yards and eight touchdowns. He contributed to Vanderbilt almost upsetting South Carolina in the season opener. The junior showed nice quickness with a 78-yard touchdown on his way to eight total receptions for 148 yards and the score.

Matthews also played well against Florida with eight catches for 131 yards and a touchdown. He finished the regular season strongly, going over 100 yards against Ole Miss, Tennessee and Missouri.

Matthews totaled 41 receptions for 778 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore in 2011. He has a nice combination of size and speed." - Charlie

I hope you don't think WR is are #1 issue next year considering we will need a LT.

So how about we wait & see if they work out first. Tackle will be the main focus next year as it should.

This is why Panther Fans get such a bad wrap. Most of you have no idea what your talking about. What has Gettleman said you win within the trenches he likes his big athletic people. So if are LT is in his last year possibly & is old don't you think getting a LT to protect are franchise QB is more important then getting a WR considering he won't get the ball if Cams on his back. Another thing are RT position is equally as bad so don't you think it is in are interest to get a RT as well to help protect are franchise QB.

So I firmly expect 2 out of are first 3 picks to be Tackles. Unless they sign Gross for a year or so to play RT & get someone to groom underneath him so that could be a pick in the 4th or 5th. Next year class is a very good class for OT so why not address both are needs in a strong class makes sense. Turn a weakness to a strength like the DT spot then are whole line will be young & talented minus Kalil on the young part that is. To protect Cam well into the future.

CB I personally am going to wait to see how are  young players develop because they really weren't that bad in the second half of the year. If anything we really only need 1 even know it is for the #1 corner spot possibly I'll wait & see after this year. Will get a WR next year with sum speed so all of you crying chill out.

My list of top needs would be OT,CB,S,WR,OLB,K

If we can get some more cap room to sign one very good FA I think it should be Jarius Byrd to put beside Godfrey not only would it fill a big whole it would save a draft pick shouldn't cost to much either, also would be a very nice tandem on the back end of are D.

I know we have to sign the Kraken which they need to be getting a deal done ASAP before he goes & puts monster #s up again & wants CJ money. Which hopefully CJ gives some back.  I know Cam contract is coming & without making the playoffs it only makes the price tag on him that much cheaper.

I personally think Gettleman his going to give Hakeem Hicks a look next year in FA even know I like Hicks he's injured to much so wouldn't like that very much, could work if he stayed healthy huge if though.

Also expect if Beason comes back healthy & has a good season don't be surprised to see him getting traded which would be the best thing possible for us. Klein was drafted to replace Beason or Davis they just want him to get groomed a little. Panther Nation I just ask you think more & stop crying about a WR already.

I'd put the needs at LT, WR, CB, S, RT, OLB, K

LT has to be the biggest need, WR as the second need because the team doesn't have anyone but Smith signed past this upcoming season at WR.

CB, S, RT could improve depending on how the team and certain players play this season.

Safety & OLB are the easiest positions to fix in FA. So not to concerned there, Tackles for are franchise QB is more important moving FW. I think WR is important & we will get at least ! in the draft next year, however I'll wait to see what Gettis can do this season. CB never can have to many hopefully we can get the air apparent to Gamble sooner then later.

Im pretty sure WR is just as important as a LT next year. You really think WR isn't important with Smitty being a year older? Good luck. I'm hoping we can address either LT or WR through FA.

If safety is so easy to fix, why havent we fix it yet?
