Soccer Summer Transfer Thread...

C47

Recommended Posts

Felt like we needed a thread for this for all the soccer fans here to talk about the transfer window and where players are going.

Neymar to Barcelona seems to be done though not official.

Also heavy signs suggest Isco to Real Madrid, with possibly Cavani following him.

Gareth Bale looks like he's staying a Spur after signing a promotion deal that makes him the face of the EPL next year.

Falcao is going somewhere, the question is where?  My money is on Monaco.

Rooney wants out, and I would be shocked if Cristiano Ronaldo was playing anywhere but Madrid next year despite some rumors that he could be heading to PSG or Chelsea.

Finally one of the best young Strikers on the market Robert Lewandowski looks destined to leave Dortmund, but will the Yellow and Black sell him and Gotze to Bayern in the same season?

The Window opens up in just over a month and there will surely be a ton of movement all around Europe.

Should be fun!!

Neymar to Barca is official, announced via his instagram and the Barca official twitter account.  Next big domino to fall is Lewandowski imo, and Arsene Wenger seems convinced he's been sold to Bayern.  Just dirty what Dortmund has done to their fans this year selling Gotze and Lewandowski to their biggest rivals.  If I was Klopp I would be moving on in my coaching career....

Sounds like both Manchester United and Chelsea are trying to bring Luka Modric back to England.  Chelsea rumored to offer 30 million, but I don't see that being enough with Real paying that just a year ago for him.

Good to hear about Bale... now if we could just pick up a LB, a creative midfielder for when Dimbele has any health issues, and one or two strikers that know how to actually score...

Things are looking up for my Spurs!

I mean he's ultimately bound for Real Madrid.  There's a 50 million buyout clause in his contract for next year, and because of Perez and Levy's working relationship Real will get first crack at him.  By this time next year 50 million for Bale will be an incredible steal....

My guess is Real buys Isco, Cavani and a Right and Center Back this year, lets di Maria play on the Right Wing another season and goes after Bale hard next Summer or possibly in the Winter if Tottenham is falling behind in the league standings (not that I think that will happen).  Then again Zidane seems to be obsessed with Gareth Bale, so it wouldn't totally shock me if they threw out a ridiculous offer Tottenham couldn't refuse.  It's not like money means anything to Madrid, just going to be very hard to move him out of the PL THIS Summer with him signing a marketing deal for next year....

Monaco continues their free spending, signing Ricardo Carvalho as a free agent.  Spent 70 million on Moutinho and Rodriguez, now Carvalho and Falcao is on deck.  They're nowhere near done from what I've read either....

I'm feeling like Zidane is going to go all in on Bale.  Lots of talk coming from Gareth's side via his agent now, saying they would be "honoured to negotiate a move with Real Madrid".  Still think it's going to be tricky with the marketing deal, but feeling like they will just keep adding money till Tottenham can't say no.  No inside info to support this, just a gut feeling after reading quotes from Zidane and Perez about Bale.  Not to mention it's got to be driving Perez insane that Barca beat them for Neymar.  A summer transfer window that sees Bale and Cavani come in to Madrid would make Neymar an afterthought....

Either way it's criminal that a player as good as Gareth Bale isn't playing in the Champions League.

French radio station reporting Monaco has put in a 25.7 million offer to Real Madrid for Angel di Maria.  Don't see that happening unless they are supremely confident they're getting Bale.  di Maria while not exceptional, is a very good player on the wing, and is not expendable unless you're bringing in a much better player at his position....

Bale is a reason Spurs even had a fighting chance for top 4 place. Dude is too good.

Yep, which is why he won't be there more than a year tops.  I honestly think Real Madrid is just going to turn on the unlimited funds cheat and keep putting in offers till Levy and Tottenham cave....

    • Barring an extreme shock, the Panthers won't be directly involved in the annual head coaching carousel this seasdon. Still, for those who like to keep up on this sort of thing for the future or just wanna get a line on who we could potentially lose, here's some info. Tom Pelissero does this every year for NFL.com, but the article I'm looking at today is from Sports Illustrated writer Conor Orr. The Top NFL Head Coaching Candidates Teams Will Consider for 2026 As with Pelissero's article (linked below) former Panthers OC Joe Brady is listed as a top candidate, as is another former Panthers OC (who had an arguably more contentious exit) Thomas Brown. He had issues here, but is doing much better these days working with Drake Maye up in Foxboro. Posted below are the Panthers relevant sections of the article. And lemme just add that while the first name mentioned here probably won't surprise you, the second one might. _______________________________ Ejiro Evero, defensive coordinator, Carolina Panthers Evero has been a bright spot on many underperforming teams, having unfortunately gotten his break as a play-calling coordinator with both the Broncos during the pre–Sean Payton era and the Panthers. Still, the reality of Carolina’s defensive turnaround has been stunning. Despite having one of the worst defenses in history last year, the Panthers did not spend a first-round pick on defense and Evero has led a unit that’s allowed 20 or fewer points four times and shut out the division-rival Falcons.  I am sure Evero will one day become a head coach, as evidenced by the fact that he’s continued to receive interviews even during the darkest seasons. Perhaps Carolina’s turnaround, which currently has the Panthers tied with the Buccaneers atop the NFC South. Brad Idzik, offensive coordinator, Carolina PanthersEmpty heading Idzik, 34, the son of longtime respected NFL personnel man John Idzik Jr., is an analytical mind valued by Dave Canales not only for his data-driven approach to the game but the way he can develop talent and place talent into advantageous positions. The potentially playoff-bound Panthers have completed a stunning turnaround while simultaneously grooming a young core of players, from first-round talents all the way to undrafted free agents. _______________________________ I'll also throw in a couple of additional indirectly Panthers related mentions: Drew Terrell, pass-game coordinator/wide receivers coach, Arizona CardinalsEmpty heading Terrell left the Commanders in 2022 for Arizona with a promotion that includes coordination responsibilities. The Stanford receiver and special teams ace has been in the NFL coaching ranks since 2018, climbing the ladder from quality control coach with the Panthers to pass-game coordinator with the Cardinals. Frank Smith, offensive coordinator, Miami DolphinsEmpty heading Smith has been a mainstay on our list for the past few seasons, with his former head coach at Butler, Jeff Voris, telling me for a previous list that, “Interviewing him was one of the most unique experiences I ever had. When [Frank and I started together], we hadn’t won a game in two years, an 18-game losing streak. He became my right-hand man, and in four years, we were 11–1, won a championship and he was the offensive coordinator doing the whole thing. I became his assistant coach at some point.” As the totality of Miami’s roster-building struggles comes into full view, seeing Smith and head coach Mike McDaniel build a successful offense without much in the way of resources continues to be a strong case in Smith’s favor. He last interviewed for a head coaching job with the Panthers in 2024, when they hired Dave Canales. _______________________________  I only vaguely remember Terrell. I do recall Smith being a guy some folks really wanted to get our head coaching job before they went with Canales. It might be a down year for the Dolphins, but Smith is apparently still getting attention. Lastly, as mentioned above, here's the Pelissero version for those who want to review what it says. 2026 NFL head coach hiring cycle: 24 young candidates to know
