I have a particularly strong stomach. I don't have the sheets unless I actually have a virus and that is rare. With that said we should pay to have the Beacon cater a tailgate to the brand new Georgia Dump in 2016 or whenever the hell they build it. Hopefully those fellas have enough water to flush per person. A couple years ago they were trying to squeeze(lol) as many people as they could in per flush.

Took my boyscouts canoeing the French Broad last weekend. We took out at the 12 bones restaurant under the overpass. saw a bunch of folks tubing the river drinking beer. you just drink and pee as you go. Might try that one day when it is an adult outing..

Good trip and good barbecue for what it is.

When I was in school at WCU we'd tube the Tuckaseegee every day during the summer. A tube for you, a tube for the cooler, and a can of Kodiak. Those were some good times.

When you can't find the entree from the sides then its too much damn food. However I do love their sweet tea.

My question to the regulars, is it better to pack adult diapers like depends and just crap yourself all the way home, or do you go the rest stop/wet wipe route?           

 

 

 

 

I really think that for myself, it  would depend upon my distance to  " home ".  If it were a couple hour ride there, I think just about anyone would be feeling a bit chapped if they had made the ride in wet / liquid poop diapers.  Some of us might be able to get away with a bit more, and some a bit less but I would guess 2 hours would be a happy median.  So its obvious that if you have over 2 hours to travel you would do the rest stop/ behind a tree at the road side thing, for less than 2 hours the best course would be to save some time, get some depends (or cheaper yet the generic brand at  BIG LOTS !  Those babys can hold some liquids) and ride in pleasure.

It's not horrible but people around here act like they're the Gods of BBQ. There is a place called Webos that is hooked onto a gas station that has far better BBQ but you never hear anyone mention them.

I went to the Beacon one time, and the food was disgusting.  I just got a burger and fries/onion rings.  Am I missing something, or did I just stop by on a terrible day?  I love a good greasy spoon and have eaten my fair share of things that seem similar to what they claim to offer, but it was just bad.

 

The chili was bland, the burger tasted like it had been soaking in water all day, and the fries/onion rings were limp and half fried.

Yeah ive eaten there! Its really, really good! I got a half rack of ribs with their sweet potato crunch last time I was up there, It was sooo good. I don't have any favorites for specific resturaunts , but I just love all Western Carolina BBQ.

Went there while in college for the "cheeseburger a plenty"

School was less than an hour away and we were all happy to get back to the dorms, barely made it.

glad to see they haven't changed in 30 years
