Mick Mixon filling in on the David Glenn Show

top dawg

The show is on right now (until 3PM). He said he's gonna have Rivera on a little later (2:15) I just caught the back end of a Gantt interview (who basically said we can be good, but not necessarily great). Mixon is getting ready to talk about AE.

Mixon just happened to see Rivera in the office one day, and basically asked the coach if AE had a real shot (or if the good reports were basically B.S.).

Paraphrasing:

Armanti Edwards has worked extremely hard. His route running has turned the corner. He's catching the ball pretty well. Ricky Proehl is working really hard with Armanti.  The positive Edwards talk is not a joke. It's serious.

Mixon said Cam really looked like he was in the process of maturing at his press conference the other day. He basically said Cam looked like a confident, mature man, as opposed to a young man trying to figure it all out ("...neurons firing, synapses connecting...").

Mixon asked the catch-the-ball-during-QB-reps guy who had the stronger arm, Cam or Anderson. The guy said Clausen (No joke). He said Clausen's balls travel "crisply" through the air.

Mixon said Cam could probably throw the ball 80 yards if he wanted to,

Mixon noted that he believes Ginn's football age is younger than his real age. Impressed with Ginn's speed as well. Someone asked if Ginn could be a number two. Mixon really hedged on whether Ginn could become a number two, lauding Ginn's kickoff return abilities, but said he doesn't necessarily believe Ginn is a "natural catcher". He said Ginn's hands are probably "good enough", but we'll have to see whether they're great later on. Baiscally, he was probably thinking, "Not!"

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
