Hornets / Bobcats draft Zeller

Why not, chuck?

JR Smith made 3 mil last year IIRC. Give him double that and we get him for 6 per. That isn't possible? I'm just saying, if we drafted Zeller, they have to have a plan for the 2/outside scoring in FA.

I'll tell you this, I don't know how I feel about bringing Hendo back now with the way things are looking.

JR will get 6 mil elsewhere and in places with opportunity to win.

Hendo is almost a guarantee to be brought back after today.

The only guy I'd hope we go after is J.J. Hickson. That would be a great front court, if Zeller is the real deal.

PF: J.J. Hickson / Biz

C  : Cody Zeller

Imagine a C who has good scoring ability, dominated the souting combine in athletic measurables.

Led his team to a conference championship and is 7ft tall. He possesses coordination and considered the best screen all defender in the draft.

Now imagine.....

...he is not White....

No.5 pick easy.

Gotta admit, I like the pick...  Not a fan of Len (baffles me that he's flown up the draft boards, and accomplished as little as he did in college), and not a huge fan of Noel (do like him better than Len, and like his potential, but with his lack of size and the injury, not sure I'd want him)...  Charlotte needs improvement everywhere, and Zeller is the most accomplished, athletic and complete big man in the draft...  He may not have the ceiling Noel does, but I believe he also has less risk...  Critics will say we got it wrong...  I prefer to see for myself on this one...  Zeller can stretch defenses with his range, and stress them with his speed on the break...  I believe this could be a good pick for a team needing a 4/5...

He didnt score in a dominating fashion, disappeared in the games that weremost important to his team and had horrible interviews and some red flags in he hanger ons...whats not to like?

That's what I keep going back to... I just don't get the love for him. Did no one else see how Kansas struggled this year? How they fell out of the top 25 and went on long losing streaks? If McLemore is the guy many think he is, that wouldn't happen.

    • All I can say is... I have some happiness off the rags choking and losing to the Panthers. Hopefully the Western conference team wins the Stanley cup, but now I can be 100% uninvested in the playoffs
    • Yep. It was an obvious red flag that a lot of people ignored. The results/scores in preseason don’t matter, but individual performance very much does and individually, we looked like the least talented team in the league and it carried over.
    • Sorry, but in 2015, we didn’t look like poo to the extent of 2023. People who said it’s just preseason were completely wrong. Simple as that. 2015 was a veteran lead team. It was Cam’s 5th year and Luke’s 4th. Even our OL was 80% the same (added Oher) as the great run to finish 2014 with a playoff win. That year can be labeled as preseason doesn’t matter because I’m sure we rested vets and well, Ron/Mike weren’t putting in special plays, etc. I absolutely don’t recall a bunch of us saying that Turner was getting killed on one on ones or that Luke was completely out of position or that Norman was hurt again but probably fine. The only thing that was right about the 2023 preseason is that the minority of us who saw it, were correct that we A) should have been making Young and others play 100% of the reps as there was nothing to hide and B) the preseason means nothing was a bunch of BS trying to stay optimistic when it was obvious that we had way less good talent than the rest of the NFL.
