Best news in a loooong time...

HOPEFULLY, the Panthers will not have many needs.  WR (2, perhaps?), TE, OT --I PRAY that we find a SS and the CBs mature.  I think it will happen.

On defense, it would be nice to draft for the future, maybe another OLB (Beason may be gone in 2014 if he has a good year or bad)

The key to 2014 offseason will be Hardy and positioning to offer Cam a long-term, lucrative contract.   I think we will do that.

My draft (Do not know why I am doing this, but here goes):

Round 1:  WR: So much depends on the WR crop and Gross' intentions.  I say re-sign Gross for 1 more season and draft a top WR.

Round 2:  OLB:  Davis will be 32 and Beason could be gone.  Both are injury prone, something that tends to signal the end for a LB.  I like Klein, but we need to think about the reality of the situation--both are question marks.

Round 3:  LOT:  Very late for a LT, but first round LTs usually start.  I hope Chandler converts and steals the show, but if not, we need a guy who can play for a year and develop--maybe compete with Bell at RT to get experience until that happens.

Round 4:  QB:  Shocking? If the draft has raw talent like Glennon, Barkley, and Tyler Wilson in the fourth round, this is a great time to find a second teamer to groom.   Clausen will be gone.   Practical GMs would ignore this nonsense and draft a TE here.

Round 5:  RB:  Yes, another RB!! There was good value late in the draft at RB and no smart man would bet on Double trouble being anything positive in 2014.  DW will be way over the hill for a RB of his mold and Stewy has too many foot injuries.  May be time to move on.  Hurney--you idiot.

Round 6:  WR:  Yes, a second WR.  Lafell is an interesting player this year.  If he does not increase his production, a second contract could be difficult.  It is possible that the Panthers are left with Smith and...............We could need 2 WRs very easily.

I defidently like most of your picks.  WR is a given.  If Davis and Beason stay healthy and we can hold onto Beason I would rather wait on OLB assuming our depth turns out ok.  I would want at TE, I really like 2 tight end sets, probably in the 2nd, maybe the 3rd depending on who is there.  Good teams take a QB every couple of years, I think we need to this year or next year, depending on our needs at the end of the season.  LT I would take higher up or wait until 2015, once again depending on how our season plays out.  I am ok with taking a lower round RB every year if we are getting anything out of the guys and hopefully that keeps us from ever having to use a high round pick on one.

This I would Love to get TE in the 2nd,  Eric Ebron from UNC would be a perfect target for Cam

1st: WR- Brandon Coleman, Big athletic Target for Cam, hopefully don't have bad enough season to be in position for Lee or Watkins

2nd: TE-Ebron, another Athletic Big Long Target for cam

3rd: OL: Seantrel Henderson

4th: QB: Logan Thomas- Big athletic project sitting under Cam and Anderson could groom out well in 1-2 years

5th: CB

6th: DL-Depth at DE or DT

7th: WR

Hold out for OL 1 and LB or CB 2 the next year

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
