Bucs NFC South Team of the Decade

Notice all their playoff victories came in that Super Bowl season. They had a nice run, ONE SEASON, and they are the all decade team of the NFCS.

I don't know if I have the time, but if Santo was the statistition that he claims he is in concocting this formula, then he should have consider the outliers. Outliers are the bottom and top figures in your sample that can skew the true averages or calculations. This is a more accurate projection of the sample.

In other words: John throws ten darts at a dart board aiming at the buyllseye. Seven darts miss the board entirely, two are inches away and one barely gets inside the outter bullseye ring.

From this one sample by saying John hit the bullseye when he played darts, someone could conclude John is pretty good at darts.

Let's take out The Bucs best and worst seaons and take out the Panthers best and worst seasons to reason the better team of the DECADE in the NFCS.

Panthers since 2000:

Outliers:

12-4: 2008

1-15: 2001

Wins=58

Win%=8.3 or 8

Bucs since 2000:

Outliers:

12-4: 2002

4-12:2006

Wins=60

Win %=8.6 or 9

Difference=.3% (rounding factored in the game difference)

NOW...

Since 2002 when the division actually began:

Panthers since 2002:

Outliers:

12-4: 2008

7-9: 2002 or 2004 or 2007

Wins=44

Win%=8.8 or 9

Bucs since 2002:

Outliers:

12-4: 2002

4-12:2006

Wins=40

Win %=8.0 or 8

Difference=.8% (almost a full point--game without rounding)

So since the division actually started in 2002, the Panthers have been the best team in the NFCS for that portion of the decade. As pointed out, we still have this season left to go as well.

Its kinds funny to see Panther fans and falcon fans say "the Bucs haven't done poo since there there SB win"... A better question, what has any team in the south other than the Bucs ever done?

What have the saints, Panthers, and Falcons ever done? :)

Not trash talking or anything, just an honest question.

Relative to what? It is not an honest question unless you define your terms.

Terms??? this isn't a contrat negoitaion.

Tb has 1Sb ring, and 3 NFC south titles... Panthers have 2 Nfc south titles...

Falcons and Saints are just sad with 1 a piece.

Help me understand why the Bucs havn't done anything since, and every other team has?

We were about 1:30 from beating the ALL DECADE team in the middle of their dynastic run.

What did your team do? Beat the Raiders when the former coach knew the plays/personnel inside and out.

Boy that's tough!!!!

Playoff wins, for one. Bucs are woefully short in that category post Super Bowl.

I'd agree with Tampa getting the overall title (SB Win trumps SB appearance) but it's far from a landslide.

Granted you will beat us up over that one ring. How many playoff wins have the Bucs had since 2002? *cickets*

Zero, the correct answer is zero.

At least we pushed in 2006 and reach the NFC title game twice counting '03. How many 6 or fewer win seasons have the Panthers had since 2002 when the division began.

Zero, the correct answer is zero. The Bucs-TWO.

The Raiders have rings too, and I'm sure their fan base is giddy about that fact going into this season.

So 6 playoff wins is better than having more regular season wins, more NFC south titles and the a SB ring? It doesn't add up.

And with yokels like bobcat who plays down our victory like it was nothing. The Raiders had it all that year, league MVP, jerry rice(best wr of all time), and #1 O that season. proves what you know buddy.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
