What exactly is the point of running a conservative offense?!?

I mean seriously what the hell. That's for a QB like Jimmy. We have Cam fuging Newton. Steve Smith on the side. Brandon "I catch when I wanna" Lafell. Our Backs our second to none. I just don't get it. Play to Cam's strength and spread it off. If I'm not mistaking conservative is what got Fox the door? And what Rivera said was the opposite he was going to do.

Conservative offenses rely on one very key thing that I think a lot of people miss.

 

Pain

 

The 4th qtr is not the same when youre a linebacker and youve been gettin hit by ruinning backs all day around 200 to 260 lbs moving faster than any other human being on this planet.

Did a coach say we were running a conservative offense?  I'm guessing it will be more conservative simply because Chud is gone.

 

Nothing wrong with balancing the load and not putting every little thing on Cam's shoulders.  Hopefully the days of three straight passing plays within 10 yards of the endzone is gone.

What's the point? Balance, less pressure on the young QB, allowing more talented players to make plays forcing the defense to have a hard time guessing what's coming next...same thing that's always been said about West Coast systems. While Shula's scheme isn't a Norv Turner-like West Coast offense, it's definitely a variation of it. The power running game accompanied by the occassional read-option, and a nice play action passing game is scary if successful

I said this in another thread.  If this is based on a few offseason comments and the first week of practice, then it is not accurate.  Here is why:

 

1. The comments over the spring were that the Panthers would run the ball more effectively.  That could mean "more often", but it does not mean that we will be conservative.  Conservative is running the ball on 3rd and 9 or dumping to the backs on pass plays.

 

2. The first week or so of camp is dedicated to building from the foundation.  The run game is usually the foundation.   Play action passes evolve from running plays--not the other way around.

      Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.

      I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
