Panthers Bar in DC

I've lived in foreign countries for 7+ years of my life, and the people I've introduced to the game love it. Believe me, it isn't easy trying to teach it when my German and Tagalog is pitiful, but even with the language barrier, the people loved the different ways of attacking the defense and scoring.

Watching a Superb Owl once a year isn't enough to teach them adequately about the game. Given the choice, most people I met would rather play my game than theirs. We are simply an NFL Peace Corps away from world domination.

It is called soccer only in America, but the irony is that a British guy(I think) named it soccer :-)

Australians calls it soccer too.  I would assume New Zealanders also call it soccer.  In fact, four of the five partner countries call it soccer (US, Canada, Australia, NZ) and only the UK calls it football....so..yea.

On topic, I'm glad someone asked this.  I'll be moving to the DC area soon and I will probably be frequenting this McFadden's myself now.

Eh, to each his own, I guess. I was being a little tongue in cheek in my earlier post, but I still stick by the essence of the comment. I guess soccer is okay, but not for me. If they don't play in pads and average 215+ on the scales, it ain't football to me. All futbollers can have your Third World-approved game. Me, I'll take a Pee Wee League gridiron face off over a pro soccer match any day.

True story...I was in DC for work and decided to take a late flight home on Sunday so I could watch the Panthers. The closest sports bar to my hotel was McFaddens. I walked in around noon and there were 20 or so Panthers fans (no fans of other teams) and they were hanging up Panthers decorations. I couldn't believe that I had just randomly walked into a Panthers bar in DC. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Panthers bar outside of Charlotte. Hell...most bars here show other teams' games instead.

I ended up watching the game with about 40 fans. We beat the Texans. Amazing day.

I still keep in touch with those guys and meet up with them when they come to Charlotte for games. It's not just a Panthers bar...they're a solid group of fans that do a bunch of stuff for the games. They took a bus if 60 people to the Skins game last year.
