Soccer '13-'14 season

Real Madrid starts their season against Betis on Sunday!  Hoping for a League title, and a run to the UCL Finals, but I'm worried the lingering Gareth Bale deal will end up hurting the team just like the Modric deal did last year.  More realistic expectations might be a close second place finish in League, and a Semi Finals run in the UCL.

This will be the most exciting start of the year for the past five. So many variables at play in the BPL, with it up for grabs from any of the top five or six teams. Right now, Man City and Chelsea are the favorites, but that could change at any given moment.

Arsen, I believe ours is the first Darby of the year too. That's gonna be a fun game to watch!

Last year I watched the EPL for the first time since I was a kid, when they showed condensed games on PBS. Enjoyed it, but still don't have a dog in the fight. I was looking for a Panthers equivalent, but there doesn't seem to be any teams that share our lack of history.

    • Some people will shift the goal posts but he does still have to consistently help the team win, eventually. Not only help but be the reason. That's what franchise QB's do.
    • One of the Carolina Panthers' newest defenders thinks their pass rush can go from worst to first. ESPN's David Newton recently chatted with outside linebacker Pat Jones II, who signed with the Panthers as a free agent earlier this offseason. Jones comes over from an awfully impressive Minnesota Vikings defense—one that ranked first in takeaways (33), fourth in sacks (49) and second in QB pressure rate (44.4 percent) this past season. And despite a historically-bad campaign by Carolina's defense in 2024, the 26-year-old seems to believe his new unit can be similar—or even better—than his last. "I definitely think we could do something similar, if not better," Jones said, via Newton. "I've seen it before, so I know what it looks like. I look around the building and see we have exactly what it takes to do that." https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/24/panthers-pat-jones-vikings-espn/83840667007/?taid=683219b347846900018fa10a&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter     It's the offseason.  Let hope spring eternal. (actually, I think we are much closer than this board thinks)
    • 5 total TDs against the Falcons was pretty good efficiency and he showed that ability to go off scripts and get 2 of those TDs rushing.  How many times did he deliver big time throws against pressure.  I agree we need to see this offense operate at high efficiency which starts with Bryce. When he does I hope the goals posts won’t shift to some other stat like QB sneaks lol
