Vanilla Offense in Preseason

Cam Newton calls its “bread and butter” plays and apparently leaving out the jelly.

 

Who eats butter and jelly on their bread?

Last year in Preseason, Newton was 16/32 for 196 yards, 2TD, 0 INT, 3 sacks, 2 fumbles lost, and he rushed 5 times for 32 yards.  Overall rating of 90.1 in three games.

 

So far this year he's 11/23 for 128 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 0 fumbles, 1 rush for 5 yards, and an overall rating of 61.5.

 

Not time to panic yet, although his YPA are down a lot.  I think he tends to play better when the games are real.

The offense we've seen in the preseason is not a good example of what we'll see in the regular season imo. Here is my guess as to what our offense will look like in the regular season. Remember last season? Increase the number of read option runs and designed QB runs, and throw in a lot of screen plays to our new scat back, and mix in some play action with deep passes. RR is not insane, he's not going to run the garbage we're seeing this preseason. If he does then expect RR and the rest of the coaching staff to be fired after we have a losing season. RR is going to use Cams legs to try and keep his job, and we'd all do the same.

Oline depth concerns me. I feel like the starters will be better then last season. But we have to be better prepared if injuries happen on the Oline.

Relax. We saw this in cams first season. Offense wad terrible. Maybe they dont want to give away to much two soon.
